Word For The Day, Thursday, Rocktober 31, 2013 – crepuscule
dictionaries ad nauseam | 31 October 2013 | Thursday's sub

Posted on 10/31/2013 4:34:54 AM PDT by secret garden

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

crepuscule \kri-PUHS-kyool, KREP-uh-skyool\ , noun
twilight; dusk.

Example sentences:
But when he awoke at length there was a great Phoenix brooding with spread wings above his prostrate form, its white plumage like a ghostly crepuscule and its red eyes glowing close against his own pallid and fervent face.
-- Arthur Edward Waite, The Quest of the Golden Stairs, 1893

For that is Anayat in the crepuscule, purple and mellow, sparkling and warm and effulgent when there is a moon, cool and heady and sensuous when there is no moon.
-- Arturo B. Rotor, "Zita," 1937

Etymology:
Crepuscule entered English around the year 1400 from the Latin meaning "twilight, dusk, darkness."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

My dad always said his favorite team was whoever was playing the Redskins that day. For colleges, he said the same thing about Gtown.

You know they are planning to run Bigboy next time. Which reminds me, how do you eat an elephant?

A for you! I plan on making either a Dalek or stone angel costume for answering the door next year, for the beggars.

Or they could keep the name and change the mascot to a potato.

Much like SU did. Xshub has a contraband hat with the Saltine warrior on it, was sure they’d all been purged.

Thank you!

Now that you mention it, I’ve got a craving for the author as well-

“Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
Tis some visitor, I muttered-tapping at my chamber door-
Only this and nothing more...

Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the nightly shore-
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the night’s plutonian shore-
Quoth the Raven, ‘Nevermore’”...

You know that absolutely no normal people know anything about any Congressional hearings, right?

We’re winning Jon Stewart and SNL and South Park right now.

She got her ass whipped. I saw the hearings.

Check my twitter stream, Mike Rogers jammed it to her on substantive issues, that Rush wouldn’t understand.

There was a second congressman also familiar with the actual tech issues, that also spanked her.

And in between, they nailed her on other, more political points...

And, they are pulling her back, in 4 weeks.

I don’t believe we are. No matter that now they’re deriding Obama, Hillary will be touted when the time comes.

Sure, but if we can watch Obamacare collapse and it turns into an object lesson against the progressive view of gov’t, it won’t matter if they support Hillary.

There will have been a change in mindset, in trust in big gov’t.

Its relevant....very relevant. All that matters is that the issue stay in the public eye, which as a said it has been.

I watch a show on Telemundo at 8 on nights when nothing to spark the imagination or entertain is on History, natgeo, etc-interestingly, I’ve noticed over the last month or so all the commercials for food stamps, obamaphones, etc are gone, and there are two or three commercials sponsored by Hispanic conservative groups warning how much Obamacare will cost a family, urging calls to their (republican) representative, which I found very interesting-but that is just mi dos centavos...

We yelled Ooooo! during his questions because it was obvious he knew what he was talking about and all the hand jive in the world cannot save her. Honestly, that is so distracting. Why do Dem women persist in the arm waving? It makes them look like fish wives.

Porque el Amor Que Manda is the best show! We love Chucho! I think that’s Univision though.

That one isn’t on Telemundo-I watch “Deciones” sometimes, but the one I like best is Marido en Alquiler-it is just hilarious, with nearly everyone having an affair with someone else’s lover/spouse/ex spouse, and threatening/blackmailing each other-but the female lead-”Griselda”, is an American born actress from up north with German and South American parents whose first language is obviously English-blonde with blue eyes, and looks more like frau than senora. Most of the cast is light skinned, light eyed-since it is filmed and set in the Miami area, I guess they are supposed to be Cuban...

Oh, yeah... He knew exactly what questions to ask. Sadly he had already left, after she kept saying that they had no enrollment #’s, because the ins. Co’s have that info.

The question she was asked was not backend(enrollment)

But Front End, and under Butterworths prop up questions, she said they ran daily scans,

What that means is they are tracking incoming users. Scans generally contain all the relevant information, and are used to track the downstream effects.

I.E. You scan the front end, you scan the back end, and you run a compare, and see what falls out, it’s what I do, and it’s clear Rogers has someone on his staff who gets it.
