Football uniform creativity has been taken to the next level, as Northwestern will shed its familiar purple to go red, white and blue for its Nov. 16 game against Michigan.

The uniforms, designed by Under Armour, will raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to empower servicemen wounded in battle.

Very cool, Northwestern. I must be getting old because these new trends in football uniforms has me baffled. Is there anything uglier than the uni-color jersey and pants fashion?

I heard on the radio today that the new design resembles a blood splattered American flag.

As the uniforms are specifically meant to raise awareness for Wounded Warriors Foundation, I intend to see that as the blood shed in defense of our nation.

I’m sure leftists will see it as the blood of those oppressed by those who wave the flag, though.

A liberal Midwestern college supporting the troops. That’s a slap in the face of their professors.

I'm happy my alma mater's team is supporting the Wounded Warrior's Foundation, but those uniforms are hideous.

Then again, so is our play on the field the past three weeks.

Don't worry about the receivers' gloves; they don't actually seem to get used anymore. "Passing game"? What's this "passing game" you speak of? :-(

I am not surprised they got beat handily by Wisconsin coming off the emotional loss to Ohio State. But last week’s loss has the potential to be a fatal blow. That was a stunner. I’m not sure a 6-6 NW team will get a Bowl; they have work to do.
