I’m flying eastbound tonight. I plan to look for it from the cockpit.

I've got more cloud cover here than Jupiter has. No chance of seeing anything above 1600ft AGL.

It’s already morning here on the left coast.
I agree it’s about time, to start looking for this comet.
Hoping for a really great show this time.

Having been around when Comet Kohoutek was hyped, I presume this “comet of the century” will also be a dud.

Hale-Bopp was stunning, though.

Make a ping list we can all discuss on.
My wife and I have been trying to identify it, but I think we’re too far west and worse, we’ve had about 2 weeks now of cloudy conditions.
Thanks!

Last 3 or 4 days it should have been visible with binoculars, but U would have to know exactly where to look.
I was surprised by how bright Saturn was!

I have an 8” reflector telescope. I should pull it out...

Hale-Bopp was indeed spectacular. Seems this comet’s hype well exceeds what went before HB.

Oh thanks for that link.
It looks to me, like the comet will be visible in a week, as it rounds the sun.
Last thing at night?
If you see it now, it will just be a glimpse before the sun comes up in the morning...

I think it will be MUCH better after it comes back around. It’ll be warmed up, so more gas. The orbit is quite skewed to the ecliptic, it came in at about 60 degrees orientation. So on it’s way back out, it will be heading north and get into dark skies more quickly.
IF it’s good, around Dec 9th, it might be amazing!

Check updates on spaceweather.com. So far it’s been less visible than originally predicted. Next big question is whether it even holds together as it rounds the sun.
