The A3/02 strain combines the two most common HIV strains in Guinea-Bissau and develops into AIDS within five years, up to two-and-a-half years faster than either of its parent strains, said Angelica Palm, one of the scientists behind the study published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases. This type of strain, a recombinant, appears when a person becomes infected by two different strains, allowing DNA to fuse and create a new one.

Don’t be surprised to hear that it evolved due to some treatments not being fully carried out, resulting in strains with immunities to some of the treatments available. The next claim will be that, if the whole world had ObamaCare, this would have never occurred because everyone would have gotten injections to counter the “injections”. IOW, it’s evil Republicans who have caused this by resisting the cure for everything that ails you.
And many that do.
More hosts = more mutations = more vectors.
Or in layman’s terms, the more people have HIV, the more chance of a mutated strain and the more chance of it getting passed around.
I can only speculate how many lives would have been saved had the USA sacked up and quarantined deviants with this deadly disease. The body count shows no sign of even slowing.

HIV-1 from chimpanzees & gorillas to humans. Here I’m guessing they were sharing needles with the chimps and gorillas.
HIV-2 from sooty mangabeys to humans. Here I’m guessing the Africans sat on the chimp’s toilet seats.

My recollection from previous readings regarding the origin related more to sexual contact between humans and these animals.
