Jason Chan, a cancer survivor and Chicago restaurateur, sought sweet justice for one of his patrons last Thursday evening.
Jason Chan, who is also a martial arts instructor and former bouncer, won an epic battle against a thief who tried to steal a customer's I-phone 5.
Chan says he saw a suspicious man wearing ripped clothing walk into the restaurant --too messy an ensemble to be dining in a Michelin rated sushi restaurant like Juno in Chicago, Ill.

ABC Chicago reports that Jason Chan also just won a battle against throat cancer. Chan, who was diagnosed in January 2012, didn't have health insurance so dedicated friends helped him by starting a fundraising campaign to pay for stage four cancer treatment.
Jason Chan is now cancer free, but has since lost 50 pounds and is still recovering from chemotherapy.
'To have these health issues and to be able to do this is amazing,' said Wolske.
Perhaps that black eye will teach this young fellow that there has to be easier ways to make a living.
He’s never going to live it down in they eyes of his thug buddies.
The problem is the fuzz and the courts are going to put
this punk right back on the streets. The fuzz isn’t
going to like Chan doing their job and making then look
as useless as they are.
That's profiling!!!
Hooboy. A martial artist and a former bouncer working in a place where very sharp, pointed things are the order of the day. Justin, buddy, there’s this thing called “target selection” - oh, never mind, they’ll tell you all about it in prison.
He is only lucky the guy is white. He may have something if he is a homosexual? Otherwise, straight white guy, nada.
This karateka is a real nice guy. I knew one who subdued an armed robber and left him with a broken wrist, several broken ribs, a broken collar bone, and when the robber was still trying to be obnoxious, he got place kicked in the face.
And then this sensei looked down at him and said, “Ooo. I bet tomorrow you’re gonna have a lot of ouchy places!”
To his credit he gave pointers to the EMTs as to how to pick him up for the gurney so as to not injure him further, and a list of exactly what was broken to give to the ER doctor.
With martial artists at that level of competency it’s really not a contest anymore.
