But that house is still standing and in excellent condition even after almost forty years.

Hopefully the home has increased in value keeping pace with all the rest of this stuff....
We sold the house after five years because the racial composition was changing and the schools were no longer the quality of those in adjoining counties. But we did drive by the house just for grins about three years ago when we were visiting in the area. There was a home nearby for sale somewhat similar to the one we had and it was listed for $75,000 so over the years the area has shown some increase in value but not like that of surrounding counties.
