Clear Channel announced Thursday that progressive talker KTLK "Diverse LA" will flip format to an all-conservative line-up and will be re-branded "Patriot 1150." KTLK's foundering liberal line-up had included Stephanie Miller, Randi Rhodes, and Bill Press. KTLK's ratings have been anemic, averaging 0.2 in the 6+ demographic over the past six months. In November, the liberal line-up registered #41 in the crowded LA market. In comparison, conservative KFI finished in the top 10 with a 3.4 in the same demo

Ah, yes, the free market at work!
When you can't even get .2% of 6 year olds to listen to you.....
Yeah, too busy with kindergarten I suppose.
Liberal talk radio cannot survive
because talk radio involves interaction.
Notice that liberals never debate based on the merits of the issue at hand,
but always on the immorality of opposition to their “good ideas”.
Stephanie Miller, Randi Rhodes, and Bill Press
Talk about a line up of disgusting individuals, that is it.
Stephanie Miller has gotten the boot so many times she probably has a square ass by now
The reason is simple. Columnists and journalists can get away with spouting off liberal nonsense because they don’t have to answer to or debate a conservative. If they did, it would destroy their credibility.
Talk radio is live. Usually on a time delay of a few seconds for cussing etc but live. Liberal idiocy from a host can be dismantled by a conservative caller, no problem. Credibility is then destroyed.
You mean the vaunted Hispanic immigrant ubermensch the saviors of all that is America did not listen to 3 white libs extoll about their moral superiority, I’m flabbergasted. I’ll bet Rush and Sean do better amongst the Hispanic population than those worms did.
“Stephanie Miller, Randi Rhodes, and Bill Press

Did not know Miller and Press had a talk show after they were booted from the KABC lineup and replaced in part by Larry Elder.
I met Bill Press once and he is an arrogant a-hole. I was thinking about decking him at a company party but I would have been fired.
I used to TRY to listen to AirHead America with the mean drunk Al Frankin. It was intolerable. It wasn't engaging, or an exchange of ideas, it was all preaching and moralizing. If by chance a conservative caller tried to get on , he was ridiculed. Not a give and take at all. Needless to say I could only listen for about 5 minutes at a clip.
that’s true, but beyond the “can’t survive interaction” dynamic, radio is an intellectual pursuit, and video (tv, film, etc) is an emotional activity. As such, liberalism fails the auditory sensory environment.
From the movie “O God”
George Burns (as God): “Loose a job, save the world.”
It did happen to many young Mormons.
My surviving Mormon cousin became a Catholic.
That may be partly true. But the interaction on talk radio is pretty controlled. The real challenge for liberal talk radio is that the talk radio market is largely made up of the working middle class of America. It is the group that drives to work and actually does work during the day. It is an intellectual group that is involved in the governance of our nation. They are smart and they vote.
The dialogue and logic confounds most LIVs and liberals. they are not interested because they are not remotely aware of the issues that are discussed for the most part. Discussion about what politicians are doing or what are government is doing "for" us is boring and unfamiliar to the nitwit masses.
I didn’t know that Mormonism had fallen. Glad that they are beginning to figure it out.
Liberal talk radio can’t make it because most liberals don’t follow the news and talk radio is talk about what’s in the news.
Liberals get their opinions not from listening to the news and forming an opinion from what they have heard, but from conversations with their liberal friends which is why all liberals repeat the exact same talking point without specifics as to how they formed that opinion.
The liberal opinion is pretty much the thought process of someone that has created a talking point for other liberals to repeat as if it’s their own thought process.
The liberal talk radio format is blame-shifting and making excuses for constant failure. Hardly the recipe for ‘must listen’ radio.
Since none of them will be reading this, It seems ok to tell them how liberal radio can succeed.
Liberalism is pure emotionalism. It’s hard to stay emotionality charged for a whole hour.
They need little 5 minute snippets of liberal nonsense scattered throughout some kind of innocuous sound bed. I think a liberal could stay focused for 5 minutes.
Liberal talk radio, like communism, fails every time it’s tried. Most of the first talk show hosts were left of center. Anyone here grew up in NYC in the 60’s? Remember WMCA, Fabulous 57, home of the Good Guys? Besides Top-40 they set aside a 1/2 hour of broadcasting for Barry Gray a liberal-leaning, but very intellegent and articulate commentator who shaped the call-in format as we know it. When WMCA ended the music format and went all news and talk, Bob Grant started broadcasting in NYC. The conventional wisdom said a conservative “firebrand” like Grant would’ve been tarred and feathered, but he survived and thrived. In fact, elRushbo, in his first book, credits Mr. Grant’s pioneering work as one reason for his success.
