Thank You!

I had known the legend for some time, but hadn’t made the “Connection” till this morning.

I got a bit of cash from my parents for my birthday so I bought the saffron crocuses with that. I like to cook and have enough geegaws already. We budget about $25 per parent and this will just about hit that mark for our moms. If we spent more than that they’d fuss. I’d planned to buy saffron crocuses earlier in the fall but we didn’t have any spare cash just then. Imagine my surprise when I learned they were still available! They usually sell out in September or October.

Maybe I can get them to be happy and sell the bulbs or just sell the saffron. Or, given our health insurance deductible will be TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS next year up from $2500 I might see if the docs will do old fashioned trade for service with that :P

Yes, the electrician had just completed his work and gone home. Their was a battery power drill being recharged, and they think that the battery pack exploded or something.

Guess we’ll never know for sure what started it. The wind blew debri onto the trailer, and caught it on fire. Also burned some hay bales for the horses.

I have been hunting for long underwear in the catalogs and online. Haven’t had much luck finding that good ole thermal stuff that was really really warm. Stuff so far has been so thin it’s almost negligable in improving the situation.

We often put off our decorations too late it seems, since we don’t have kids that nag us into it the day after Thanksgiving any more. I keep a bunch of window cling decorations, so that I can put them on the windows, and lighted wreaths in the middle. At least we aren’t totally dark!LOL

Here's the recipe:

2 lb. sirloin beef in cubes (lean stew meat)
2 large yellow and 2 large red onions chopped
3 jalapenos seeded and chopped
3 tomatillos skinned and chopped
12 green onions chopped
4 green peppers chopped
2 or 3 red or yellow peppers (for color)
4-5 tomatoes peeled and chopped
1 can tomato paste
4 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons salt
2-3 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons black pepper
2 cans Bush's pinto beans
1 car Bush's black beans
1 big pot.

Brown the beef and drain the excess fat. Add spices.
Bring to medium heat and throw in everything you've chopped except for the green onions.
If liquid is lacking (depends on tomatoes) add a can of beer
Bring to a boil, mix and let cool.
Add beans and sprinkle chopped green onions on each serving.
Serve with corn bread or tortillas.

We have a few that are too close too. Hubby says every spring that he’s going to do something, but so far all he’s done is think about it.

Did your homeowners pay for the damage?

I bought my long underwear at Sam’s Club on Sunday. Glad I did. Often, I wait too late, and then all the sizes and colors are gone. These are “Cuddle Duds”. They look thin, but they are very cozy. If you don’t have a Sam’s, Walmart may carry the same thing.

The “Eating Off the Grid” is the most valuable food prepper book I have. There is so much more than recipes in there plus the recipes are for real using stored food, much of that long term stored food. She studied for years at Brigham Young Un., as a dietician and she is the most knowledgeable person I have found about eating off the grid and still have proper nourishment.

They are perennials here. The only reason my wife will yank them out is to change colors.

Sorry you have cold feet. I was so tired last night after a day at the Dentist, I let the freezing temps kill off my impatiens, pentas, and tycon tomatoes. I just couldn’t force myself to go outside, and cover things. Tonight will be colder.

Plants in the Texas Preppers greenhouse are fine. The tomatoes I pulled up and hung upside down are ripening in there, and the live plants that are growing in there have tomatoes that are ripe & ready.

Too cold to go outside today. It is still 30 at the reporting station for my zip code. I have been getting my Christmas cards done the past few hours.

My Dad was 6 months at sea in the South Pacific as an escort ship. At the end of the war, his ship was one of the ships that participated in the sinking of the last German Sub off the shore of Point Judith Light (North East Coastline).

I have a treasured picture of him and some of his mates with the debri, which included among other things, a raft and the captain’s hat.

It wasn’t till his final years that he talked to me about his service. One day he walked into my living room, and handed me a box - looked at me and said this is yours now keep it safe, turned and walked away.

It was his ring and medals mementos of the War.

Lady Bender is going to make a big pot of Ham & Navy beans for Fellowship at Church this Sunday. She made Turkey Soup for us last Saturday and there is plenty left for a another meal. Benderville could get a rare snowfall tomorrow...

No snow! What’s the temperature? I think I heard on the news that the I44 corridor is the dividing line. So I guess you are on the other side of that? Does CO = Columbia?

I suspect lots of people may be wanting to do a little barter for health treatments in the future.

Sounds super. I’ll print this and add it to my chili collection. I think it will be a great one!
