I loved seeing the smoke rise from the dead fire ants. If this works for killing off a mound, it might be worth it. After a few works of art, you can just recycle the aluminum.

We used to pour gasoline on them when I was a kid in Valdosta GA. No, we didn’t light it. The survivors would just build a new bed about five feet away.

I’m sure a stiff letter of protest will be coming from PETA shortly. As someone who has suffered from a fire ant attack, I for one, have no sympathy whatsoever! Pour baby pour and let the smoke rise!

In case anyone is feeling sorry for the ants, here is a photo of my 2 year old grand daughter's leg who wandered into a fire ant hill: (not sure I can do a picture on FR)

You can cast a ghost crab burrow similar to that by filling it up with insulating foam,letting it harden and dig it out of the sand.Amazing how these critters engineer the these habitats without blueprints.
