I’m so angry about this. The claim that the LED bulbs last for years is a lie. You fork out fifteen or twenty bucks for one and it burns out on a few months. I can’t afford that. They do want us broke, cold, and in the dark.

Yep. That’s my experience.

Fluorescent tubes seem to last for years but the compacts and LEDs burn out quicker than incandescents for me.

Not quite reliable because they have to step down the AC voltage to DC voltage. Electronics. And then, the LEDs wear out and get dimmer. They don't necessary burn out.

Also, I am wondering how well they do in adverse environments — extreme cold and heat and moisture and rain. Something a simple low tech incandescent bulb has managed for over a hundred years.
