From what I read is this car comes with a choice of either a 7 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic.
In the video ? it looks like he only took it to the 5th gear, impressive.

My totally stock C7 (virtual) in Gran Turismo 6 (a pretty good race-car simulator) topped out at 232 mph. I know it’s not real, but it’s a pretty dang good simulator. Working closely with Chevrolet, the Gran Turismo 5 developers gave us the C7 before it was released to the rest of the world.

I used to have a ‘93 Porsche 911 - found that it needed to stay out of top gear (which was 6th) to get much acceleration out of it above about 110 MPH. It needed to stay in 5th to achieve top speed of (I think) 158 MPH, which put the engine at red line.

I only had it to 135 MPH - and only twice. The first time, alone in the car, I thought my heart was going to explode out of my chest.

The second time, I thought my wife was going to PULL it out of my chest.

Like I said, 200 MPH in any car is awesome - and not for the faint of heart or car.

For some, it's a Sunday afternoon drive (or something else)!

Just got back from Germany a couple days ago.

237 KPH in a Volvo XC70 on the ‘bahn.

Still had to look in the rearview for Porsches and big Mercedes.

The car has a 7 speed manual transmission.
I don't know why he didn't punch it into 6th gear to reach 200 or perhaps he knew what the car was capable of and didn't want to take it to 210 220.
There was still a lot of speed left in that car to be able to take it to 200 MPH in 5th gear ? impressive.

Only in the state of Texas.
Looks like the State Troopers were enjoying it too.

NASCAR - it's not just for people who want to see (fill in the name of your most-hated driver here) get into a bad wreck anymore.

Imagine the aerodynamic pressure on that box at that speed.

I suspect there may be an electronic governor on the speed.

My understanding is that the speed rating of the tires is what dictates the setting for the electronic governor with the primary goal of protecting the company from lawyers (rather than protecting the driver from his stupidity).

But, if the car was "tuned", it's quite possible that the electronic governor was defeated.

The best car that I have ever drove but didn't own was a 750 BMW V-8 but I didn't drive it above 90 but I loved the acceleration on it though.
The smoothest car I drove at tripple digits was a Dodge Intrepid.
The car I currently have now does great in curves and my friend who owned the BWM and Benz said that my car does better in curves than both the BWM or Benz.
It's a once loved out of production GM sport luxury car.

6th (.57:1) and 7th (.48:1) are deep overdrives for cruising.
Even at 200mph the rpm would likely be too far off the power peak.

“Never mind the small critters, watch out for the hogs and deer.”

I think that would be called emulsification and disintegration. You would emulsify the critter in question and you would disintegrate.

Nerves, old age and speeding tickets have relegated me to driving at the speed limit.
The way I see people drive now a days it's a wonder we don't see more accidents and deaths on the road.
