Dromedaries were strolling on train tracks in Negev unsupervised; no passengers injured in crash.
Fourteen camels were killed near the Negev town of Segev Shalom after being struck by an oncoming train. No passengers were injured in the collision.
The camels were apparently loitering unsupervised on the train tracks in a poorly-lit area. Following the crash Tuesday night, the train driver stopped at the nearest station for inspection and alerted the police. The train continued on to Beersheba shortly after.
The police were working with local veterinarians to track down the camel owners.
Animals roaming on the train tracks are often hit by passing trains, an Israel Railways spokesperson told the Ynet news outlet. The braking distance of the train is about 800 meters and the driver has no option to stop the train before impact.
Last April, a train struck a cow herd in an area north of Beersheba, killing fifteen cows on impact.
They didn’t make it through hump day.
Be careful around trains...

I’m a sexual camel.
Holy carp!
Well, that’s it. The weddin’s off. No dowry, no wedding.
Humans can be resourceful in third world countries.
Camels were on there way to Saudi Arabia for the troop build up due to the recent announcement of a pending invasion into Persia (Iran)....
This is going to be a HUGE setback for the Sunni Army...the Persians were heard laughing and snickering behind the adjacent sand dunes....
It’s good they put up the awnings when the train passed. I certainly wouldn’t their vegetables to get dirty!
That is awesome !!!
Just another day.
Love it!
You don’t suppose they were herded there in an attempt to create a derailment...
Someone should send that to Jacoby Jones!...................
Camel Martyrs?................What do they get? 72 Helen Thomases?...............
Is Dromedary good eatin’? I know Bactrian is really expensive because it’s kinda hard to find.
And the train’s toilets are probably open holes with foot treads on either side.
Looks like two humps are better than one.................
