This video makes the surprising claim that certain celebrities, polticians have black ancestors.
Why is it considered surprising as the title implies?
What is your take on this issue?
I would think to most Americans the revelation of a celebrity having a black ancestor would not make any difference in the perception of the person. 1.Would knowing that a famous white person, as celebrity or politician had an African-American parent, grandparent or ancestor change your perception of them?
2.Would you look at them differently? 3.Would you be less inclined to associate yourself with someone with black ancestry?
4.Would you be inclined to marry someone revealed to have a black ancestor?
5.Would you consider the revelation to be that if being geneologically outed the equivalent of being outed as gay?
6. Do you belieive that any person with black ancestry wold preder it not made public?
Are you sure she wasn’t orange?
Carly Simon looks part crocodile to me.
Is Carly Simon’s mother Valerie Jarrett’s mother? :)
I wonder when the Speaker of the House started being considered a ‘celebrity’, especially as most people in America, maybe 74% couldn’t name him.
I was going to comment that in addition to her black, jewish ancestry there’s a component of her geneological make-up that remains primordial in its origin.
Truth is, many of us are of mixed race somewhere down the line. Maybe even most of us...
Our family thinks that way way back there was a dispute over a black/white marriage, perhaps an Indian/white marriage...we’re not sure which...and the “offending” husband changed his name.
Now our family surname is spelled just a tiny bit differently than others with a similar last named...(e.g. “Jonnes” instead of “Jones”.)
Bupkis. Race is all there is for the racists anymore.
The real world really don't care anymore.
He won't admit it, but Bob Barr is 25% black.
Many blacks are as WHITE as they are black...
BUT choose black identity because of racist perks..
and affirmative action..
They are lying thieves..
Isn’t that a picture of Steven Tyler?
Do they have as much fun as the part-Jewish people in Adam Sandler’s hysterical Hannukah song?

My take? As a foreigner who visits the US often, I see Americans being very race-conscious. This doesn't necessarily mean 'racist' or 'discriminatory' but race as a factor in daily discourse is dominant here. Just browse through a day's worth of articles posted and you'll find a large portion of them involve a discussion on race. So, I don't think it's entirely erroneous to have the word, 'surprising' mentioned in the video title.
It’s insulting to even be asked these ridiculous questions.
“Would you look at them differently?”
“Would you be less inclined to associate yourself with someone with black ancestry?”
No wonder Boner spends time in the tanning booth.
I’m half black-from the waist down.
Carly Simon looks part crocodile to me.
I was thinking that her dad must have been the Joker.
