I know the senior set here has little appreciation for video games, but they are a fun past time. More fun than just watching tv or movies.

I play games occasionally, but my eyesight isn’t great and I have Linux right now, so not a lot of games

At $10 a pop, that’s $100K.

I don’t have a whole lot of time to play, but I do enjoy the opportunity even though I have been playing the same three games for the past ten years.

That number of games would take more than 29 years to accumulate if he bought 1 game per day.

Since he’s been playing games for 31 years, I reckon he hasn’t actually finished many of them.

A quality game will take 40 hours to finish (often longer than that if you don’t use any outside help).

Does the game in that picture right above Pinball have the title “Videocock?”

I don’t mind getting it. There is often some real wit on this site, which, in part is why I said it. :)

However, there is a lot of truth to the idea that there is a generational divide when it comes to computer gaming, with comparatively few people over 60 who are into computer gaming compared with the other demographics.

Some computer games have great replay value, like Diablo II. It take far more than 60 hours to get through everything.

He even has the Casio Loopy - an ill-fated effort to target the girl video game market.

Casio Loopy? I hope those marketing folks got sacked over that one.

True....I find it an amazing waste of time...and I am 55...

I almost had to fire an young employee because he simply was not getting enough sleep from playing half the night some game called evercrack :)

Yes..I Know it is Everquest, but you have the same reaction as being on crack...

Depends on when/how he bought them. You can buy a large cache of NES games on eBay for not too much money. I got a decent library built up at a flea market sale. Great games for dirt cheap.

He says that he only has time to play about 3 hours a week, which if you include a wayward youth, probably averages out to be 5 hours a week, which would work out to be about 200 games completed, if each game only took 40 hours to do.
