As a man, I resent that description.
Even if the mother had a firearm, it wouldn’t have helped without situational awareness. Now, if the 7 y/o daughter, or another bystander had received the same Christmas present as Nikki Haley . . .

That comment was a little too... “pointed”.
But, indeed, odds are that the perp’s “father” was not married to his mother.
