In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
nimiety \nih-MYE-uh-tee\ , noun
Nathan is possessed of a nimiety of get-rich-quick schemes, combined with a paucity of common sense.
"Despite the nimiety of blue lighting and an issue over microphone levels, this was a wonderfully gentle evening of poignant country and folk poetry set to simple melodies that go round and round in your brain."
From a concert review by Jon Bennett in The Bristol Post, March 18, 2013
There's no scarcity of English words used for too much of a good thingwords like "overkill," "plethora," "superfluity," "surfeit," "surplus," and "preponderance." In fact, you might just feel that "nimiety" itself is a bit superfluous. It's true that we've never used the word excessively, though it has been part of our language for nearly 450 years. (We borrowed it from Late Latin "nimietas," a noun taken, in turn, from the Latin adjective "nimius," meaning "excessive.") But though "nimiety" is far from overused, it does turn up occasionally and can be considered a valid addition to any writer or reader's vocabulary.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
Rise and shine! It’s a brand new year.
Senior leadership finally woke up to the nimiety in middle management and started canning the underperformers.
We won't have a nimiety of opportunities to do that for ourselves before the government takes that over too.
yes, i think hearing from someone they know can have more of an impact. they think it can never happen to them.
That may be what she should do, to speak to high school and college kids about the consequences of drinking too much. It might reduce her anger at the results of her mistake.
at the diBlasio swearing in.
What is what all women long to say?
Thank you Alex, I’ll take Female utterances for 400 !
And some really bad plastic surgery....
Unreported locally, but on Drudge, is that the Commissar had the storm troopers keeping the press at bay.
Gee, who would have thunk it.
oh she shows zero signs of plastic surgery, that face is sagging, there is nothing pulled tight there at all. i don’t blame her for not having it, i would respect that. and even the hairstyle is better than the forehead baring styles she has had. It’s not dissimilar from how i wear my hair, actually.
More proof that their stylists hate these women.
Except you wash and comb yours, unlike hildabeast.
I miss Sean Connery on Jeopardy.
Looks like an outtake from “Weekend at Hillary’s.”
she looks thin though! she has that unfortunate pear bottom shape.
One of my friends has a son named Jake who works for SF. It never gets old!
Except, you’re pretty, and she’s pathetic.
But, she’s missing chins, and the swollen look is common for a face and neck lift.
She’s never looked swollen like that,
Obamacare rules: pure nimiety
Its uncertainty causes anxiety
If you liked your old plan
Then complain to the man
Who is arrogant, smug, with false piety
OMG how great is that! he’s a celeb!
Lol. She says that all the time,. They like to make women look foolish, and laugh up their sleeves.....
i will look just like that in 10 years bc i will not do surgery under any circumstances! she’s close to 70, and she’s chosen a diff path than nancy pelosi. alcoholics can puff up and look swollen too, and i think that’s far more likely than plastic surgery. if she were given to that, she would have done it long ago. i truly think she doesn’t care much about her personal appearance and that accounts for the wearing of scrunchies etc.
But she HAS had plastic surgery in the past, on several occasions.
honestly, i don’t know who could have plastic surgery and still look like that. can they so finely calibrate it so that you can have a tiny lift and so look 60 instead of 70? heck, she doesn’t even look like the lifestyle lift commercial after photo!
I love the Buick commercial where the dad is taking daughter and date to a school dance and playing “U can’t touch this” and “Keep your hands to yourself.”
Trust me. She just had the work done, to get ready for the ‘16 cycle. She’s not going to go the SanFranNan route because it would be too obvious, and subject to ridicule. Plus, you are overlooking the fact hat she’s never been out of the public eye, until now to have the work done.
And FWIW...you’ll never look like that, she’s ugly on the inside and it shows outside, it always has.....not an issue you have.
The swollen thing, is common.can last for months.
i finally got that last night, i had seen the commercial a bunch of times and didn’t figure out it was a boy/girl date/dance situation. it was pretty cute.
Consult a doctor if it lasts more than 4 hours.
Ruff.,,just the way your mother likes it Trebek!
I keep that on the DVR,,,
Do you know how many civil fines I’ve paid, because my wife takes that literally.
If I have a heart attack, I am going to die, because the First Aid squad has me blacklisted.
Hemmer, after his Kissing Suzy Kolber moment, just called DeBlasios twitter feed akin to Pravda....
A+ for you. I just went to the park and it is pouring already with temps dropping. I was planning to jog in the rain but I won’t head out when it’s pouring. Now I am chained inside watching radar and the windows.
He unloaded on Colmes...”enjoy your two cities Alan...see you on the sidewalk”
Refreshing honesty, from an anchor.
This dang snow pouring out of the dang sky is a nemiety I do not need. Bah, humbug. 2014 is already looking just like 2013.
Only nuts run in the rain, or cold ;-)
Even at the height of my addiction, under 40, or wet, was a day off....
Not coming down here yet.
Rain? If what we had on the ground was rain, we’d need arks. Must have gotten a foot of snow since yesterday.
It’s coming down pretty heavy here.....our neighbors lit out for the south with their bikes on the back of their SUV just as the first snow flakes fell yesterday. Lucky them.
DH cleaned off my car, but I still didn’t go out to breakfast.......not into the snow. Not me.
We have had 22 inches of snow already this season.
Nothing right now, but we are expecting 2-4 inches today and tonight.
