I would like to introduce this as an example of what virtually everything is at the core of both political and social issues that challenge us today.

Some atheists aren’t as smart as other atheists—just like Christians.

The atheist argued fairly, not sure what he’s doing with his hands throughout, that was kind of distracting.

Favorite moment was when the Christian said, “I have a basis for logic”, the atheist replied “a fallacious one”, and then the Christian said, “but on your view, there’s no problem with it being fallacious.”

Classic.

Your observations are exactly my point.

We have seemingly very well educated folks that have no idea about the foundations of both how and why they form opinions.

It’s the classic statement from many atheists “There is no Truth”

The Christian or thinking persons reply should always be “Is That True?”

I posted this because it is my contention that we have entered a world in which uncertainty is being embraced as fact.

This then leads to reliance on authority and Government by default.

The only way to undue this mindset is to undermine their foundations.

True! The atheist cannot come up with any moral imperative that truth should be chosen in preference to falsehood.

This is an example of the devil’s clever expurgation of reality. We think truth is self enforcing in our beliefs when, no, it isn’t.

And, I hope, it is through considering such conundrums that at least some of the world might be won back to the Lord. There’s no bulwark against lies, if truth can be any old thing.

Nope, that don’t work, Mr. Atheist.

We believe in Christ/Jehovah because He is holy and shows it... He obviates the need for all other gods by filling all the possible roles they could have.

Atheism comes up short here. It is a four-flush.

Yes, and I see these apologetic ministries doing tremendous work out there. My worry is not with people like the kid in this video. He has thought out his worldview. I find it a little absurd, but that’s just me. I can bet you though that most of the other people at that rally would have been stumped with those questions. Its those people who have not really thought it out and may not know about the conclusions of their worldview who really need to be approached and talked to.

... and anyhow, we believe on that God not because we have philosophized ourselves to Him but because of empirical experience. He was the champ in bible times and He is the champ now, and the only thing that is keeping you from Him, Mr. Atheist, is that you are saying no to Him!

Certainly it helps to edify the body in the face of these newfangled challenges. A really robust faith in Christ will automatically see around the bullshit, but the trouble it takes to get that really robust faith is hardly ever to be found. We really are mostly Christianettes. I consider myself only a one-eyed man in the realm of the blind.

I agree, the kid in the video is more likely to find Christ than the majority of the other attendees.

He is at least thoughtful, and that is why I thought this video was interesting.

You are right. Most folks whether they are attending this show or not, have absolutely no clue, and don’t care to know.

The challenge is in approaching the willfully ignorant.

In my experience, you can’t TELL people WHAT to believe. They must find out for themselves. You can only guide them to ask the right questions.

It’s much like the difference between Peter and Paul, preaching to the Jews vs. the Greeks.

Our country has become Greek.

Someone coined the term ‘apatheist’. These are the toughest to talk to.

Wow.

“Apatheist” is a great word.

I hadn’t heard that one.

Morris might do pretty well in philosophical matters, but he’s stuck on flood geology, a currently unprovable thesis at best that he acts as though it were the sole way of dealing with the difference between the views of events described by pre-fall bible theology and modern post-fall observational science.

I personally don’t buy that it is the only theory we can reach to deal faithfully with both accounts. Other than day-age theory (cf. http://www.reasons.org), conjoined universes would be another way, and might even fit better. However Morris would then tell us we are “worshiping science” and with such charged accusations comes an automatic impasse.

What does that mean — someone who is determined not to care about God? At least you are unlikely to get militant ones in that case. One would have to wait until God gets such a person involved in a situation where God will matter enough to be noticed again, before ministering. We have to await God’s time and occasion for many things. We can’t just go out there on our own will and timing. That might well not work!
