Already using that, I’ve got 119 playlists setup :)

The only downside is that some of the big acts that I like can’t be found there (like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Van Morrison), but about 95% of what you look for, you will find, and the rest you can just go to youtube for.

I can see *some* Zep in my search results. No, not all their music, but more than a taste. But you’re right, you can’t find ALL the music there. And their mobile site availability differs from the full site as well.

“I can see *some* Zep in my search results. No, not all their music, but more than a taste.”

The only Zep songs that stay up on grooveshark are ones on non-Zep compilation albums, soundtracks, etc. You won’t find any from their actual albums, or if you do, they will be taken down soon enough, once they copyright police get around to it.

If it can’t be found on 8-track, it ain’t worth crap!

Personally, I find that nothing else captures the essence of music, the "you were there" je ne sans quoi-ness of the aural experience, quite as well as the Edison Wax Cylinder.

Hayes Carll, Damn Quails, Turnpike Troubadours, Whiskey Myers, Bart Crow Band... This list goes on and on.

If it's Americana you're looking for, go here:

95.9 The Ranch and click the 'listen now' button.

Keep a pen and a pad of paper handy because you'll be writing down lots of artists and songs.

They're out of Dallas/Ft. Worth and the music they play on that station you'll never hear anywhere else.

>> Sorry, won’t ever happen.

Agreed.

But, I suggest Romantic era classical music — nothing will ever surpass it. It’s the perfect alternative to Classic/Blues Rock.

Thanks, but I’m perfectly content with the wide range of stuff I listen to now. I wasn’t born yesterday, and so have had a taste of just about everything else out there. However, I definitely do like some classical music. I find it very soothing and relaxing. Great for bedtime.

Apologies, I should have listed the other poster first — the intended recipient of my recommendation.

As far as you go, I was agreeing with your “won’t ever happen” statement!

Rock on, FRiend!

Just take those old records off the shelf
I’ll sit and listen to ‘em by m’self
Today’s music ain’t got the same soul
I like that old time rock and roll

Don’t try to take me to a Disco
You’ll never even get me out on the floor
In 10 minutes I’ll be late for the door
I like that old time rock and roll

(Chorus)
Still like that old time rock and roll
The kinda music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock and roll

Won’t go to hear ‘em play a Tango
I’d rather hear some blues or funky old soul
There’s only one sure way to get me to go
Start playin’ old time rock and roll

Call me a relic call me what’cha will
Say I’m old fashioned say I’m over the hill
Today’s music ain’t got the same soul
I like that old time rock and roll

95.9 is a Ft. Worth station, once you’re east of DNT they get overpowered by some stupid Spanish station. :/

But 95.3 The Range is another good one in the area, play a lot of similar stuff (less rock-ish than the Ranch).

And I’m pretty sure both stations have a playlist on their websites, so you can just scroll through everything they’ve played for weeks and pick a song at random.

Also, there’s 92.1, and you’ll get two country stations out of that one. One’s based in Glen Rose, the other in Farmersville/Greeneville, so around Dallas you get the overlap. Kinda weird. Hank FM and the Possum.
