The only stat that matters is 34-31.

Maybe Mason needed 300 yards for Auburn to have had a chance.

BTW, FSU dominated the second half. Maybe Auburn should have foregone the championship speech writing at halftime and instead concentrated on trying to win the game.

“Maybe Mason needed 300 yards for Auburn to have had a chance”

You are joking right? Number one Auburn was not the best team in the SEC, Alabama was. Alabama led the country in least points allowed until the Auburn game. They had 3 shutouts this year, with one of being against a high scoring team in Ole Miss. They shut out Ole Miss at Ole Miss. No other team did that this year. Alabama, although giving up a ton of yards to Auburn in the Iron still lost the game on a fluke play you see once in 50 years. Then against Oklahoma they had over 500 total offense, but pissed the game away with five uncharacteristic turnovers. I personally think their heart was never in the bowl game. They were also ranked #1 to start the year and remained #1 the entire year until the Auburn loss. Auburn on the the hand won half their games by less than a TD, with it taking a miracle fluke play to beat both Alabama and Georgia. FSU, with the exception of Clemson, beat no one of note the entire year. It does not impress me when a team runs up the score on not more than high schools in the ACC.

So what does all this blabbling about from me mean in the big picture? Well if Auburn could run at will against FSU and basically lead them the entire game, and if not for a fake punt at the end of the first half, and the score probably being 28-3 instead of 21-10, Auburn would have probably won the game going away because FSU would have been demoralized trailing 28-3. Instead FSU runs the fake punt and gets right back in the game.

Yes FSU won the game, but no way in hell were they better than Auburn, who had close game after close game in the SEC. I think if FSU were in the SEC they would have lost 4 games. You might think I’m crazy, but that’s how I see it.
SEC is still the top football conference in the country and will be for years to come. Auburn, Alabama, Texas A&M and Missouri could have very easily beat them if they were in the SEC.
