Well, except that there is no evidence this was actually a stunt, much less a stunt BY Christie.

Was there really no reason for the closures? Were they not announced for a purpose? Was that purpose fulfilled?

We know there was an e-mail expressing pleasure at the inconvenience, but no evidence that the closures were ordered to cause that inconvenience.

Actually, it would seem the lane closures were not announced and the Port Authority in NJ was not explaining why the lanes were closed at the time of closing.

But all that aside...the problem facing CC is that CC has now implied, via his email announcement, that the bridge closure was done by one of his aides as retaliation. CC is indicating that he was not involved and is so sad that one of his trusted aides would do this.

The whole incident is just plain stupidity. CC was always going to win the election. Why the hey they (CC’s team) would even care about some D mayor is beyond me. And to cause traffic jams that delayed citizens and EMS...dangerous and stupid. Don’t see how it’s illegal though.

My only interest in the story is that I hope this keeps CC from becoming the anointed one to be the R candidate in 2016.

There is evidence this was intentional, and politically motivated: http://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/1003325/emails-from-top-christie-aide-on-lane-closures.pdf?from=nyregion&WT.z_mob_rel=1
