‘Babe I’m Gonna Leave You’

a better ‘Zeppelin’ ballad than ‘Stairway’....which I love.

saw them at the 1969 Newport Jazz festival...Bitchin’!!!

never heard of them before that....

a black friend(deceased) and fellow Cowboy Action shooter liked various blues music(black and white) including ‘Cream’...he once told me he didn’t get what “you guys” get outta Led Zeppelin....

I told him “ Its a white thing, you wouldn’t understand”.

At about the 2 minute mark of nobody’s fault but mine, witness the greatest harmonica-drums-guitar-bass jam of all time. The wanton song and when the levee breaks- they just don’t write em like that anymore.

So did I. A preview of Woodstock 3 weeks later.

When LZ One came out it had no antecedent.

“When the Levee Breaks” would be my top pick.

I looked for Misty Mountain and didn't see it, a comment mentioned its omission. Tough to please everyone but I'd take Misty Mountain over Tangerine any day of the week. Nobody’s Fault did make it, at #17. “For Your Life” even made the list, an often overlooked song.

70? Wow. I saw them in 1973 in Tampa. They played 3 songs , Rain Song was amazing. Then it rained, the band left and a small riot ensued. Sigh...good times.

absolutely....sorry they never made it to Woodstock. I went to both.

don’t remember a lot....so I guess I wuz there....

and LZ 1 and 2 are still my favorite and my MP3 player in my car has most LZ in my travel playlist. which includes popular music from the late 30s to the early 80s when, in my humble opinion, the music DIED. the wife likes most of it but cant handle the 1940s swing music...

I don't think there are 50 songs by Led Zep than can be considered good much less great. They had a few good songs, not 50 great ones.

I could see 50 great songs that Jimmy Page played on but I’m surprised to learn that Zep has 50 songs. They play no more than 8 on the radio.

“Over the Hills and Far Away” will always be my favorite. I made sure I learned that opening guitar riff when I began playing guitar.

all of LZ 1 and 2....how many is that? maybe 24?

it does thin down after than, but there are some wonderful exceptions like ‘Stairway’ and ‘Rock and Roll’ both from LZ4.

Happy Birthday Jimmy...I used to lock my self in my room on a self imposed bread and water diet until I figured out his licks. Saved for a starburst Les Paul that looked similar. Had the same haircut..or lack thereof. It was SO freakin easy to get laid in the 70s by simply peekin out from under your mop and pickin out Stairway or the Rain Song. I miss those days.

Rain Song, Ramble On, No Quarter, Babe I’m Gonna Leave You, and Going to California would be my favorites...today.

Well, music tastes are subjective and all, but the part in bold is absolutely insane.

You're obviously not a Zeppelin fan, so why are you even on this thread? Just to rain on the parade?

Go find a Milli Vanilli thread.

Soundtrack of my youth. My faves (in no particular order):

Achilles' Last Stand
Since I've Been Loving You
Out on the Tiles
Dazed and Confused (the big, honking 26-minute extravaganza from the live album)
In My Time of Dying
How Many More Times
The Rain Song
The Song Remains the Same
The Lemon Song
No Quarter
Tea for One

Could go on and on. Happy birthday Jimmy!
