What followed in the '70s, '80s and '90s was music containing foul lyrics, explicit sex, hatred of parents, gangsta rap ...
Whoa, you forgot the '00s and '10s. In fact, with the American culture in constant decline over the last 40-50 years, they're worse than the decades that preceded them.
(I'd post some images displaying said culture, but this is a family oriented website.)

Interesting how the best vocal harmonies often come from siblings. The Everly Brothers, The Andrews Sisters, The Bee Gees, The Beach Boys and on and on.

I mourn the passing of Phil Everly, but through his music he will live on forever.
Back when they were BIG my, older sister and I loved the Everly Brothers! My dad HATED “Rock & Roll”. When “All I Have to do is Dream” would come on the radio we would BEG him not to change the channel. He would mock the song by claiming that when they sang the lyric “Gee Whizz” they were really saying “Cheese Whizz”. He actually did like “Poor Little Fool” by Ricky Nelson.

I heard “Wake Up Little Susie” was banned from several radio stations because the situation was objectional to some.

They did some great great stuff......fully worthy of membership in the top echelon of the R&R Hall of Fame.

All I Have To Do Is Dream: Was playing when I asked a girl to go steady, back in 1958. Even had a Friendship ring for her. Wonder where she is now?

The Everlys also did a version of “Paradise” that’s as good as John Prine’s.
“When I die, let my body float down the Green River.
Let my soul rise on up to the Rochester Dam.
I’ll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin’
Just five miles away from wherever I am.”
Phil Everly — halfway to Heaven.
