Years ago we had a Cocker that climbed up on the table to get at some roast beef. He had never done anything like that previously. Flash forward 8 years and the Cocker we got to replace him would climb on the table top get anything. Nothing can be left near our little mountain goat as we now call her.

I have a dachshund that you have to push your chairs back in to the table or she will help herself when you leave the room. She recently scarffed down about a quarter of a Costco pumpkin pie.

One night, my wife and I were sitting at the dinner table talking and, all of a sudden, there was a black flash up and onto the table. It was our Cocker mix springing up and onto the table while we were sitting there. He gets this look on his face that said "Um... You didn't see that. I was never here." before jumping down. He's getting older, so I'm guessing that little lapse in judgement was something of a senior moment. (Not that age has affected his jumping ability very much.)

And then there's the other Cocker who would climb onto the table to do clean-up duty as soon as we left the house. There's a reason we make sure to push the chairs in. The only thing keeping her off now is a bum leg.
