Why oh why did they ever do Windows 7/8? Did thousands of users really demand an end to a very logical and user-friendly format?

An excellent question.

Xp continues to be a very stable, useful OS for me, particularly with engineering development tools.

The graphics/facebook types seem to forget many of us have used computers as tools for years, not playthings.
