If we wanted your religious beliefs on abortion-pill coverage, wed give them to you appears to be the latest in an untenable string of arguments from the Obama DOJ over the HHS Mandate.
On Friday, the DOJ filed its response to the Supreme Court in the Hobby Lobby case.
Politico has the latest on the DOJs arguments:
In arguments filed late Friday, Justice Department lawyers told the court that an employers religious beliefs arent a legitimate reason to deny something as important as preventive care to an employee who is entitled to it under the health law.
The connection is too indirect as a matter of law to impose a substantial burden on employers right to practice their religion, the lawyers wrote in their opening argument defending the contraceptive requirement against Hobby Lobby Stores Inc.
The crux of the Obama Administrations legal argument seems to boil down to two points:
Opposing forced coverage of abortion pills isnt a legitimate religious belief; and 2) our pro-abortion agenda is far more important than your silly religious beliefs anyway.
If that sounds like an argument to turn the religious liberty protections of our Constitution on its head, thats because it is. The moment the government can tell us what is and is not an important part of our faith and further that what we consider to be a sin is far too attenuated to actually be real sin in Gods eyes is the moment we have lost our religious liberty.
This argument comes days after Obamas DOJ attempted to convince the Court that forcing Catholic nuns to pay for abortion pills in no way violated their faith because all they had to do was sign a form and let someone else violate their faith for them.
The absurdity of these arguments is astounding. There is no stronger principle upon which our nation was founded than religious freedom. If the government can say my religious beliefs dont count, then what religious liberty can we possible have?
The Supreme Court is set to consider this exact question later this year. At the ACLJ, we are preparing to file a brief on behalf of thousands of concerned Americans and our clients (each of which we have put a stop to the mandate for as their cases continue).
The bass turd is running both the courts and the Congress now, huh? Sieg heil! Mein Fuhrer!
They will obey their god.
Yea but Molech will take them too in the end.
These traitors have to go.
People can choose their faith or their material goods. The word “No” is a simple concept.
If people believe in God more than government, they can make a choice. It isn’t ‘fair’ nor is it ‘just’. And according to the Constitution, it is one that should NEVER have to be made. But it’s the reality of the situation and depending on what the USSC decides, it is one they WILL be making.
Equality before the law. Muslims must be treated this way, too.
Bump for later
How could any lawyer that had made any effort at all to study the basis of our constitution make these arguments in good conscience.
I couldnt make those arguments before the USSC with out breaking out laughing.
Sorry your honors I was just joking.
There should already be a billion lawsuits filed on that issue with the crap going on now.
All the special rights they are afforded are a TOTAL slap to equal protection.
“They will obey their god.”
And we will obey ours.
“I am absolutely amazed that the Justice Department could find lawyers willing to make their arguments before the Supreme Court.”
Today’s leftist lawyers will do anything for money and power.
“How could any lawyer that had made any effort at all to study the basis of our constitution make these arguments in good conscience.”
I don’t think they have a conscience.
Preventive care prevents diseases. Pregnancy is not a disease.
Obama, you ain’t gonna force me to do a damn thing, you stuck up, little b*tch.
It’s always the same with these punks and their master-mind plans. People have to be made to do what they’re told or the plan fails. The master-mind is a failure but refuses to admit it. Stick your plan you commie puke.
This argument should have been made the first time it went before the Supreme Court. In fact, the court should have considered religious beliefs from the very beginning. But, not everyone cared what was even in the law.
Disobedience to tyrants is obedience to God.
Time for defiance on a grand scale.
They will then make that last mistake and we will be justified to do what is necessary in our defense.
Lawyers do not necessary have to let conscious get in the way of making an argument about the law. Some have consciouses. Some don’t. Similar to any other trade. Except some have argued that the law selectively attracts those lacking consciouses, so the percentages may be negatively skewed?
My guess is there are. But we won't hear about them until the mainstream media decides they can ignore them no longer.
Talk about a slippery slope. They’re hellbent on destroying everything we hold dear. Absolutely everything.
