Movie producer Harvey Weinstein announced for the first time on Howard Sterns radio show that he is making a full feature drama to try to destroy the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Stern asked Mr. Weinstein on Wednesday whether he owned a gun. The Hollywood heavyweight replied that he did not and never would. I dont think we need guns in this country. And I hate it, the producer said. I think the NRA is a disaster area.

Meryl Streep is still alive? She is still making movies?
That was my thought...spanky may not own a gun but i bet he surrounds himself with people that do.
I’ll be worried if the “lyin’ king” says “If you like your NRA, you can keep your NRA. Period.”. That’s when it’s time to worry cause you know what’s coming next.
I’m seven months older than Meryl Streep. Just saw an up to date photo of that Jersey face with the Popeye jaw and I suddenly feel so old.......
When I told my fairly liberal father-in-law once that Mexico was a blueprint for what America would look like if the average citizen were not “allowed” to keep and bear arms, he actually admitted that was true.

Is he really think he has the moral authority to lecture us on gun violence?
If I recall correctly, some amazingly high percentage (90%?) of all of the legally-registered, privately-held, fully-automatic firearms in the US are held by...
Anyone? Anyone?
You got it! Hollywood studios and their related companies.
Weinstein has also cultivated a reputation for ruthlessness and fits of anger. According to Biskind, Weinstein once put a New York Observer reporter in a headlock while throwing him out of a party. On another occasion, Weinstein excoriated director Julie Taymor and her husband during a disagreement over a test screening of her movie Frida.
an October 13, 2008 Newsweek story criticized Weinstein, who was accused of “hassling Sydney Pollack on his deathbed” about the release of the film The Reader
journalist Nikki Finke published an August 22 email by Scott Rudin asserting that Weinstein “harassed” Anthony Minghella’s widow and a bedridden Pollack until Pollack’s family asked him to stop
New York Post film critic Kyle Smith has accused Harvey Weinstein of making numerous anti-Catholic films, including Priest (1994), The Butcher Boy (1997), The Magdalene Sisters (2002), and Philomena (2013).
In February 2009, former Sam & Dave singer Sam Moore filed suit against Harvey and Bob Weinstein over the alleged use of Sam & Dave’s career as a model for Soul Men, a Weinstein Co. comedy starring Bernie Mac and Samuel L. Jackson.
In February 2011, filmmaker Michael Moore took legal action against the Weinstein brothers, claiming he was owed millions in profits for his 2004 documentary Fahrenheit 9/11. By February 2012, Moore settled with the Weinstein brothers, and the lawsuit was dropped. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
In the early 1980s Miramax acquired the rights to two British films of benefit shows filmed for human rights organization *Amnesty International. Working closely with Martin Lewis, the producer of the original films, the Weinstein brothers edited the two films into one movie tailored for the American market. The resulting film was released as The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball in May 1982 and it became Miramax’s first hit. The movie raised considerable sums for Amnesty International and was credited by Amnesty with having helped to raise its profile in the US.
*Amnesty Internationals anti-Israel campaign has now extended to support for a confessed spy for Hezbollah.
On January 30, 2011, Ameer Makhoul, the head of Israeli-Arab NGO Ittijah, was sentenced to nine years imprisonment for spying for Hezbollah, including during the Second Lebanon War in 2006. Makhoul was originally charged with assisting an enemy
Yes, because he says so.
A bitter struggle with Disney CEO Michael Eisner over Fahrenheit 9/11. Miramax teetering on the brink. A separation from his wife. A near breakup with his brother, Bob.
Weinstein has with him a duffel bag and a metal briefcase hes used since his days as a rock promoter in the seventies. HALLIBURTON is stamped on the top of the briefcase, near the handleIt reminds me of this corrupt fucking administration, you know what I mean?
And, you know, Meryl Poster, my head of production and also a dear friend, sent me to anger-management specialists.

Harveys Hypocrisy: King of Gun Violences Anti-NRA Flick Will Only Increase Gun Sales, Membership
Pulp Fiction.
Reservoir Dogs.
Django Unchained.
Kill Bill.
Rambo.
The movies listed above are among the most violent in the history of cinema. For me, the reviews are a mixed bag, but Pulp is a Top-5 movie of mine of all time, with Shawshank, Wall Street I (the second one was never made got it? GOT IT?!?), Caddyshack and A Beautiful Mind making the not-so-prestigious cut.
All of the films at the top of the page were produced by Harvey Weinstein. That success has made him one of the most powerfuland easily the most intimidatingforce to be reckoned with in Hollywood (net worth estimated at $150 million). And all of these flicks have one very obvious theme in common:
Gun violence. Lots of it.
Harvey Weinsteins Affection for Gun Violence and the Obamas
February 25, 2013
Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood producer who arranged Michelle Obamas starring role in last nights Oscars, has been behind more than a few films that may not sit so well with the Obama administrations recent anti-gun crusade.
For instance, he was the co-executive producer of Pulp Fiction, a college-dorm staple that has been characterized as a little bit violent.
He was also behind all four Scream movies, a horror tetralogy that seems to have inspired a few copycat killings. One judge said the first was a very good source to learn how to kill someone.
And he helped bring to America the Kill Bill movies, which tend to involve a lot of people getting shot.
He also produced Sin City, which is pretty big on the gun thing, too.
Weinstein was also executive producer of Chicago, whose main point seems to be that violence is sexy.
Nothing to see here, guys.

The producer is hosting a $35,800 a ticket fundraiser for the incumbent at his beachfront home
Looks like Harvey needs a bath & a shave - he looks nasty and crazy.
Looks like Harvey has a little guard shack on his property to his house. I wonder if anyone in there carries a gun?!

It’s films like this that make or break actors and producers. Let’s wait and see how Meryl Streep and Harvey Weinstein come out of this. Up against the National Rifle Association, I don’t think very well.
That would be a good guess. From what I can discern, he is a two-time Ozero voter. I agree with you. There is something wrong with them. This is by no means a dumb man I just do not get it...
He will never get the financing for this. Hollywood is about making money, not scoring political points.
The title will be The Senators Wife
the star, Oscar winner Meryl Streep and the producer, The Weinstein Co. The target: the NRA. The formidable chairman of The Weinstein Co., Harvey Weinstein confirmed to Deadline today they will be taking on the NRA gun lobby head on with a film entitled The Senators Wife which will star the Oscar-nominated actress Streep (August: Osage County) and other top talent in a movie he described as the new Mr. Smith Goes To Washington the beloved Frank Capra film that starred Jimmy Stewart about one mans fight against corrupt politicians in Washington.
Weinstein announced on The Howard Stern Show that theyre (the NRA is) going to wish they werent alive after Im done with them. Weinstein who has been one of the strongest supporters of President Barack Obama, in this film will expose the NRA for their behind-the-scenes machinations of what Obama himself called intimidation and lies that ended up defeating legislation that would have expanded background checks on gun sales.

Hmmm, I wonder if his next film will expose the intimidation and lies of the obama administration???
