A dog that went missing in midtown Manhattan in December was reunited with his owners on Tuesday thanks to fliers, Facebook and the kindness of plenty of strangers.
Tigger, a year-old lab and pit-bull mix, was being walked by the daughter of a friend of the couple who owns him, Manny Benor and Valerie Aranov, when he broke free as they were leaving the dog run in Madison Square Park. (Benor believes she accidentally attached the leash to a key ring on Tigger's collar.) The 13-year-old chased after the pup for several blocks, but Tigger vanished and the search for him began.
"I immediately went out in the streets," Benor, 32, told Yahoo News. "We put up fliers on the same day." That was on Dec. 20.

Walking thru NYC calling for “Tigger”, could end badly for everyone.
Nice story. Thanks for sharing.
Try calling your cat Tigger in a gas station in the deep south. Been there, done that.
I had a dog that I took in from a friend. The dogs name was Spade. Try yelling that in a small Texas town. I did and I thought I was going to be taken down, until they realized I was talking to the dog.
Good thing the owner wasn’t a fan of “The Dam Busters”.
I am happy for the couple now that their Tigger is home. What also made me smile is that they discovered a “throw away” and are now fostering him/her. Two dogs saved!
” He was found underneath an East River pier and was taken in during the polar vortex that gripped New York City and rest of the nation.”
Glad the little guy was found, but during a “polar vortex”?
Wouldn’t the word “storm” suffice?
What a handsome, sweet boy. Thank goodness he was found.
A little weepy, here....:)
Just found out a neighbor found his “Bernie” — shih-tzu and daschund mix after he bolted on New Year’s Eve from the fireworks. There were “missing” posters all over the neighborhood — made me cry every time I saw his sweet face. I took my dogs out to search for Bernie but had no luck.
DH came in tonight and said Bernie had been found, Thank God.
That’s why it’s always wise to keep pets indoors during New Year’s Eve, 4th of July and Halloween.
