AccuWeather Global Headquarters, January 13, 2014 - AccuWeather is pleased to announce it will launch a 24X7 weather channel, to be known as the AccuWeather Channel, in the third quarter of 2014.
AccuWeather had not planned to make the announcement at this time, but decided to accelerate the announcement in light of the controversy that has developed between DIRECTV and The Weather Channel and in order to make the public aware of an additional offering that will be available to them later this year.
AccuWeather is already the leading source of weather forecasts, information and data and is considered to be the most accurate and valuable source of weather forecasts around the world.

AccuWeather has been recognized for its innovative and valuable displays and presentation of the weather to the public and private sectors.
AccuWeather's forecasts are the most localized and most customized and it is the only source for day-by-day forecasts 45 days in advance. AccuWeather is also prepared to launch MinuteCast™, which will provide minute-by-minute forecasts for every location in the United States and Canada.
The new AccuWeather Channel will be focused on helping people make better decisions in planning to improve life and safety. It will provide highly localized and customized forecasts, and will round out AccuWeather's suite of services to the public. The new AccuWeather Channel will be streamed on AccuWeather.com and other internet sites, as well as through media partner affiliate mobile and internet sites and is expected to be available through cable and satellite carriers.

As long as they don’t push global warming/climate change with every extreme weather event, it will be a welcome alternative to TWC.
And as for TWC’s “Local on the Eights,” they have cut back on the daily info [to less than a minute?], deleted some audio forecast info, and added commercials.
When I look up the weather I always use Accuweather. May be a good deal.
TWC needs to can the Brother in the morning and just keep Stephanie Babrams

I certainly prefer Joe Bastardi to Joel Myers. The AccuWeather people do a pretty good job though. At one point I think every other meteorologist in the country was a PSU grad.
Watching Bastardi discuss the weather would be most excellent...
I wonder if they will gravitate to being the Fox of weather when it comes to “global warming/climate change”. NOAA and The Weather Channel (look who owns them) are obviously left of center.
You know that the world is going to hell when the WEATHER becomes a political issue.
TWC now shows as much weather as MTV does music videos.
Bastardi cut his ties with AccuWeather. He formed his own company Weather Bell.

I wish he’d replace Joel Myers (AccuWeather founder) on the PSU board of trustees.
I get my weather on the internet. I used to use the Weather Channel for local weather, but a few years ago they added a bunch of crap and eliminated most of the useful information.
So I went over to Accuweather as my primary source. But frankly that also offers less information than it used to.
More ads, more cr*p, less information. That seems to be the direction they’re all going.
Good, it’s gotta be an improvement over the liberal progressive Global Warming pushing twits at the Weather Channel.
Instead of an NBC channel it will be an ABC channel. No difference.
I hear with recent actions of Direct TV dropping Weather channel over pay fee that possiblty Accu weather do deal with Direct Tv first then may go to cable subscriber
