The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation(NRK) has put up some striking photos of water off the coast of Lovund, a small island off of Norway. Though it was only -7.8°C (18 °F), a sharp eastern wind was enough to freeze a large quantity of fish in place.
The translation tools used to understand NRKs article dont exactly remove all language barriers, but it seems that Aril Slotte of Havforskningsinstituttet, a marine research institute, believes that the fish might have been chased by a predator, and thats why there were so many grouped together that closely.
Ingolf Kristiansen, who happened upon the scene, said that because the ice was still frozen, no birds were enjoying an easy lunch.
This is not the first instance of an animal being caught frozen in a Norweigian body of water. Last week, Inger Sjøberg, came across a moose stuck and frozen in Kosmo Lake. Poor guy. The NRK reports that it is the fourth most common cause of death for moose (also known as European elk) after hunting, traffic, and bears.

Apparently some fish can hibernate....................Yes and crabs can grow back missing limbs, just think, in about a hundred years or so how much can be learned and applied to humans via genetic exploration. Who knows, humans can all become “A Race of Atomic Supermen”.
I was a commercial fisherman out of Eureka, Ca in the early 70’s (1970’s) and the salmon we caught would be gutted and put in the hold and packed with crushed ice for a week or two until we filled the hold and headed to harbor. When we unloaded the catch there was always a fish or two that still had enough fight to make you lose your grip on them! Nerves I guess.
LOL - it would be fun to see the pictures when it warms up and the cats mob the scene.
With a chain saw, you could fill your freezer with frozen fish. I love global warming.
A few years ago, as I sat in my apartment, I literally felt a cold front go through. It was comfy warm then I heard a roar of wind and within seconds, everything felt much colder. Sort of like those Coors Light commercials with the train but without the snow. Very intense feeling.
Say, can I borrow your hibachi for a few days?
Anybody have any idea how that's possible?
No gots hibachi. Got wok....................
It had to be some sort of genetic protection. After the many Ice Ages the planet has been thru over the millenia, the fish must have had some sort of antifreeze built in or there would be no fish in the northern hemisphere.....................

Looks to me like dead fish that washed up and then froze. Some are on their back.
His prayer has been answered!..................
