many many people in the North owned slaves all through out the Civil war.

Technically that is not accurate.

State action ended slavery in all Union States before the end of the war, with the exception of KY and DE. By the end of the war there were only about 50,000 slaves left in the US, almost all of them in KY.

13A did not so much emancipate slaves as it ended the institution of slavery. Prior to 13A any state could have decided to restart slavery.

Just because I like you maybe we will carve a whiskey bottle on Stone Mountain to commemorate Grant. Maybe he was too drunk to notice his wife owned all those slaves. LOL!!!
