Especially, if they had a wife or girlfriend with them.

A lot more truth to that than many think.

A few years back when ‘they’ started saying the reason we ‘dropped the bigun’ on Japan was purely Racist, the reasoning being we never would have done that to Germany because they were White.
The idea was brought up that the ‘real’ reason we dropped it was because the Soviets were going to do to Japan and the Pacific like they did too Europe - either dominate it or split it up.

Patton was one of the few ‘name’ players who recognized what Russia was and MacArthur had China pegged correctly also.

April fools on them, we sent plenty of German POWs over to the reds as a form of appeasement, and a huge chunk of them were never heard from again.

Yet another reprehensible act of appeasement by FDR to his communist buddies.
