Tony Norman’s path into journalism has been convoluted, to say the least. When he joined the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s city desk in November 1988, it was not to cover breaking stories. No, Norman was hired to input letters to the editor and answer phones.

In 1996, Norman, then 36, began feeling self-conscious knowing so much about Madonna and so little about the Federal Reserve Board. He asked for and was given responsibility for a general interest column in July, 1996.

but please don’t ask him about his SAT scores.

In July, 1999, Norman joined the Post-Gazette’s editorial board, once and for all proving that everyone rises to the level of their incompetence sooner or later.

As a “distracted” former political science major, Norman had few options in the real world. Journalism, happily, turned out to be one of them.

I don’t even think anyone in the Tea Party is as bad as these politicians in the Italian parliament:

TONY NORMAN: The shooting death of a Brookline ex-football player was unjustifiable, but don’t turn it into a racial issue.

Stupidity, not race, caused Oakland killing
www.post-gazette.com
Sometime after 3 a.m. Saturday outside the Original Hot Dog Shop in Oakland, Zachary Sheridan, 24, of Brookline was shot to death.

*******

Nandi Chatterjee

Of course it wasn’t racial. A black guy killed a white guy. It is only racial when a white guy kills a black guy.

The turd that chased my cousin around his apartment, stabbing him 27 times, and of course killing him, got 13 years, and was out in 7.

Nope! What I’m saying is scientists have discovered habits reside in a non conscious part of the brain. The conscious part of the brain once clued, turns over further action to the basal ganglia, the reptilian brain, and the actions at that point aren’t under conscious control. That happens in an infinitesimal amount of time based on the fight or flight instincts that came from our ancestors.

Have you heard the saying his alligator mouth got his chicken little ass in trouble? There’s a little bit of alligator in us all. The reactions from the basal ganglia of both the text dude and the retired cop resulted in a death most people don’t understand.

Nope! Once you’ve formed a habit, it’s lodged in the basal ganglia. Even if you form a new habit, the old one is still their and can reassert itself.

A few things surfaced as a result of the news conference today:

1]Nicole Oulson says that she has a very clear recollection of events as they unfolded that day and she has not yet met with the police investigators to give those details to them.

2]She doesn’t understand what the shooter means by self-defense — self-defense from what???

3]The shooter’s defense has a decision to make — go for the insanity defense and thus forego release on bail or claim self-defense and seek release on bail. They will have to decide by the February 5th hearing.

4]The Oulson attorneys will oppose bail as his release would put all cellphone users at risk.

5]The Oulson family and friends don’t feel that there will be justice for Chad because of all the connections that Reeves has to the community.

They will have to just wait and see.
