'Hello, I'm the guy you hit on the bicycle'
A Wisconsin man who became lodged in the windshield of a car that struck him said he turned to the driver and said, 'Hello, I'm the guy you hit on the bicycle.'
The man finally noticed Gove when he stopped the car outside his home.
'He looked at me and said 'Who are you? What are you doing in the car?' Gove said. 'He started freaking out: 'I'm going to jail, I'm going to jail.''
The man then locked the car doors and went into his home. Gove, whose body had gone most of the way through the windshield, then pulled his knees and feet into the car.
'I righted myself and got out,' he said. 'I unlocked the passenger's side door and started walking down the street.'
A witness had called police, who found Gove as he was walking and took him to a hospital. Doctors removed glass from Gove's eyes and treated him for other cuts to the head and leg.
The driver, a 20-year-old Manitowoc man, was found at the home and treated at a hospital for a serious cut to the hand.
He hadn't been formally charged as of Tuesday morning, but he was facing several preliminary charges, including suspicion of drunken driving, suspicion of hit-and-run causing injury and suspicion of failing to render aid.
'I was wearing my blue overcoat with my neon reflective vest,' said Gove. 'I had my front and rear flashers on. I have no idea why he didn't see me.'

If I wasn’t seriously injured in such a situation, I could possibly be convinced to not pursue charges if the guy went into rehab and documented that finished rehab.
Otherwise, he had better either cut me a cheque for a new bike or he would be facing charges.
Rehab’s butt.
If I wasn’t seriously injured, my response would along the lines of “Hello, I’m the guy you hit on the bicycle. Prepare to die.”
And I’d mean it.
He can go to rehab in the house. And cut a check.

I was bumped into twice in the past 2 years by cars while riding my bike, both times by women on a cellphone. Neither was even aware of it. One actually knocked the plastic insert out of my handlebar end. The other bumped me in the leg with her mirror.

Gove must be a liberal. He can’t figure out why he got hit. “No idea”, he says. Reminds me of an ex-girlfriend who I visited after she moved from Colorado to Boston. “Watch this!” She said as she stepped into moving traffic on a cross walk as they anticipated and braked at the last minute. “See? Cars are legally obligated to stop for pedestrians!”
Dodged that bullet.
If I were on the jury, I'd vote that he cut you a cheque for a new house.

(In that part of Wisconsin and the U.P. there is a specific season for hunting with your windshield.)
This has happened before, I am trying to remember the details. Maybe it happened in Texas, the driver drove home and put the car in the garage, dead person still stuck in the windshield. Someone help an old lady with a faulty memory.
I’ve been mirror tagged once. Another time, I was riding on the shoulder, several feet from traffic in a 50 MPH zone. A lady in a F150 swerved off the road and missed me by maybe 3 inches. Somehow I caught her at the light. I think the dent came out of her hood eventually.
A black woman hit a white man, IIRC, who was NOT DEAD, nd the person ws lodged in windshield for a while.

You are kinder than I. If able, upon dislodging myself from the drunk's wind shield and having a brief conversation, I might arrange it so that blood for the BAC can be collected in sufficient quantities from the man's driveway. Hell, I might have collected it for them whilst awaiting the arrival of authorities.

Reminds me of a year ago while I was having cataract surgery....I wasn't put under a lot of anesthesia, so was basically conscious - when I felt a tickle in my lungs.
I said, "I feel a cough coming on", and the doc told me, "Hang on a second until I get out of your eye"....
I hope he legally shot that deer.

Yep — she hit him and he was lodged in her windshield and she pulled into her garage and left him there to bleed to death and then later with a friend disposed of the body and was found out and convicted and is doing time.
