Watched a body-camera vid of an African elephant being stalked by seven hunters; when it got tired of being followed & wheeled about to charge, all seven fired. The smallest rifle was a .375 H&H, the largest probably a .505 Gibbs (no double rifles). Even this huge volley failed to bring it down & the wounded elephant turned to flee but then the back of its head was an easy mark & a single .375 anchored it.
Dangerous ten-ton rats is how local villagers refer to elephants; white hunters with their guns & their cash are most welcome.
I thought that a domesticated and well-treated elephant was basically a useful tractor/ front-end loader.
