(CNN) -- Police in Northern California have arrested an elementary schoolteacher after she allegedly brought marijuana-laced food to an after-hours employee potluck dinner.

Teresa Gilmete Badger, a 47-year-old teacher at Matthew Turner Elementary School in Benicia, was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of poisoning after a six-week-long investigation, said Lt. Frank Hartig of the Benicia Police Department.

After the late-November get-together in the Bay Area town, several people reported feeling ill, a police statement said.

If she made everyone aware they were eating pot infused whatever before they ate it, no biggie. If the person eating it *didn’t* know, that’s *very* uncool. Doesn’t matter if it’s legal or not.

Have you ever eaten pot as opposed to smoking it?

Yet another “educator” with an “education degree”. Don’t let this bad-judgment fool near children. That surely is child abuse.

It was very poor judgement for sure.

You know that not all teachers are liberals, right? Or union. Why *have* we turned our kids & grandkids over to these people?

I consider this almost as bad as slipping date rape drugs, or alcohol, for that matter. What if somebody is already on some medication with which they aren’t supposed to have substances or has some condition, maybe a mental illness, seizure disorder, or is pregnant. I might sue, and I’m not a sue-happy person.

I totally agree. Deliberately and dangerously slipping somebody mind-altering substances, it’s a direct attack on mind and body. I’d personally take it as being ‘almost’ akin to being sexually molested. And I wasn’t kidding with my initial post. I could kill somebody with my bare hands if they did this to me.

Potheads think it’s funny. I find it as funny as cancer.

If you’ve never smoked marijuana and have never ingested it previously you wouldn’t have felt anything.

$10.00 an ounce weed? Man, when was this? When I was a kid in high school(’71-75) an ounce of weed was 35-40 bucks at least.

What of the people in this reported instance, who were sickened by it, one even going to the hospital? Are you saying they were already dopers? Including the 15-year-old? That’s why they had a reaction?

dmz Heh. I hope you don’t feel as old as I do.

Where were Y’All? In San Antonio, it was $10 until at least 1978. I got married in 78 & then my hubs always bought it & his friends usually had the more exotic stuff, but I think it was still that cheap for a while- at least another year. Irritated me because it was not an improvement imho... “buds”!? These are sticks! By the time you took out the stems & seeds, there was a lot less shake left. And I had to watch it. I was no lightweight, but I did *not* like getting that high.

Quite honestly I doubt the validity of most of the article. Marijuana is not a poisonous plant.

I live in NJ. In 1978 an ounce of weed here sold anywhere between 35-50 bucks and I enjoyed the high. I’d be lying if I said no. I’m a recovering alcoholic and I’m sober, off booze an pot for 23 years.

I think she completely misunderstood the term “pot-luck”.

That defense might actually work

As a stupid defense, many people create marijuana butter and they may have grabbed the wrong container.

That’s not a defense, that’s an excuse. Not acceptable.

That’s why it was so expensive. Pot probably saved my life. Alcoholism runs hard on my dad’s side of the family. I never learned to drink because I smoked instead. I enjoyed it too, just not after it got so strong.
That’s a fantastic milestone, jmac. God Bless you & Keep you safe.

Between the ears, not at all. The hinges are a bit creaky, though.

Was down in that area (San Antonio) about a year and a half ago. Day trip to see all the missions (couldn’t just do the Alamo).

:-) It’s not so much physical (Heh “If I’d known I wuz gonna live this long, I’d a taken better care of myself” *sometimes*), but the social changes are getting a little hard to cope with.

I haven’t been in so *long* & keep meaning to go again. Did you get to the Spanish Governor’s Palace? It’s my favorite one, though not really a “mission” per se. That’s a beautiful way to spend a day/ weekend- esp in the Spring or Fall.

If you’re close enough for a day trip to SA, have you ever been to the presidio in Goliad? It’s very cool, too. (I always think it’s in Gonzales, but it’s not)

I tried pot when I was in high school. It made me want to rape and kill.
