Conservatism by its very nature requires colorblindness when assessing the value of human life and individual achievement. Judging people by their race instead of by their true value and what they can do is, at the very least, impractical. For instance, conservatives wishing to fill church pews are happy to welcome blacks, whites, browns, yellows and Jews, if they want to come. Come one; come all. A conservative employer wanting to advance employees looks at the bottom dollar, not the color of the person who will be most productive. We are mostly Christian, and we know God’s view on the subject. We also know Christ is concerned with spirit, truth, charity and righteousness, who we are, and who we are becoming.

When we look back at slavery, we look at it with as much contempt and regret as anyone. People should not own other people, or have that kind of control over other people. People should be individuals, free to achieve greatness, or the best they can for themselves and their families. Anything else is immoral and counter productive. Politically we are the same people who fought to free the slaves, fought to pass civil rights legislation and fought for everyone to have equality under the law.

But none of that satisfies the left, because it isn’t punitive towards Western culture, towards white people in general, and it doesn’t contribute to class and race struggle. We love our country, our foundation and the ideas that made America great, even though we acknowledge wrongs and failures that have occurred in our history. That isn’t enough for the left, because we don’t condemn our past, our country and ourselves, especially if we are the white invaders. We don’t want to destroy our country. We want to make it better, and the left hates us for it.
