Yes. In public. If your behavior is a nuisance or risk.
Yet booze is legal.
Which was your reason for criminalizing incest. Sliding scale
Leftists, are all about Statism, because the love Gov’t control.
There is still the question of intent, on behalf of the predator.
You already knew that.
See above.
Self absorption. On stilts. There are widely respected minds on both sides of this, you have no claim to intellectual superiority. Only to higher levels of self absorption.
I was just sitting with my elderly neighbor while his wife was at the doctor’s office. He mentioned that Fulton Sheen was once our Bishop, and danged if he wasn’t right. 1966 - 69. I had no idea.
Let’s cut to the chase. A 60 year old woman and her 55 YO brother. Should their sex be illegal?
I say yes, as a general principle. But do I think we should wiretap their home and have task forces to root out this evil?
No. This is where shame and shunning are better than any police or prosecutorial effort.
Who is the predator?
My dad LOVED bishop sheen!
No, we weigh the harms of the problem against the harms of the solution.
Instead of magical thinking that prohibition is perfect or cost-free.
I have to bail on this debate, my son is an alcoholic, living in and out of a homeless shelter in NYC. I have no idea from day to day if he is safe and alive. Too much realism in this for me today. I gotta let it go.
I don’t believe in magic, and by my cost/ benefit analysis the harm of unbridled drug use outweighs your arguments fir legalization.
I don’t know who jack savage is in the comment section, but he’s got it going on.
You are self-absorbed as well, unwilling to look at reality. You have your fingers in your ears and are refusing to listen to pragmatic arguments.
Maybe it is a generational thing. Hobbes and I have lives with it, have seen its use basically decriminalized. The disastrous things never happened, except to those who probably would have found something else to waste their lives with, had cannabis not existed.
I simply see no point in continuing on the path we are on. More cops, more jails, more payoffs, more crooked cops. No real effect except empowering criminal cartels.
And, let’s face it, no real threat of punishment. For white kids, anyway.
It’s a joke. Let’s end the hypocrisy. Stop pretending prohibition is stopping anyone from using.
Let’s get real.
No need to apologize, but thanks anyway. I think looking at something and saying “big boys should be able to make their own decision”, while technically true, doesn’t consider the ramifications of changing a law like prostitution. I realize some countries have that but I think it opens up a lot of people to a job they would never normally have taken but if it becomes more accepted because it is legal (much like drugs)it will devastate more lives.
We have the perfect test case in CO now to see who is right. They’ve made oodles in tax money already. Police can be put onto serious missions now.
My company’s offices in Houston are closed for tomorrow. Be careful out there. Or don’t go out there is better.
Well what about cocaine? What about meth? Are those not also the choice of the adult taking them?
Are you saying a straying husband wanting sex and standing on a corner smoking pot are the same thing? Perhaps you smoked too much in your youth
