Well apparently even the Priest didn’t do so well at his assigned job....where I’m from when God does something it’s right the first time around...this guy took three times to do the job. Kinda reminds me of the guy in scripture who claimed to have powers to do this and the demons turned on him!
I think you just contradicted your premise of evil not manifesting in people. Evil is not someTHING, it is someone. The Prince of this world is very real, the fallen angel who wanted to be God. He heads up all the angels who came with him...the demons. Yes,in ordinary circumstances evil manifests as something desirable or fun. It temps us and we all fall into the trap. But sometimes those demons find a person who attacks them for some reason. We might not understand why, but there is an opening somewhere for them to storm through the Spirit of God. That is when we have to face them with the Spirit of God that is stronger.
I read that if a Priest fails at an exorcism, he is never allowed to do another exorcism again.
Except the guys in the Scripture were unsuccessful and got chased off by the demons because they were frauds. The priest, on the other hand, was apparently successful. How long it took him is God's business, since it is His power that casts out demons, not the exorcist's.
