How We Should Think About Income Inequality
American Legislator ^ | 1-30-14 | Will Freeland

Posted on 01/30/2014 2:01:09 PM PST by ThethoughtsofGreg

Earlier this week President Obama will deliver the annual State of the Union address. By most indications, the speech will focus on income inequality, an issue the President has previously called “the defining issue of our time.” His speech comes on the heels of the release of important new research published on income mobility last week, showing that U.S. income mobility hasn’t changed in nearly 50 years. Given this, it is worth taking pause to separate fact from myth on inequality, and consider what is concerning about inequality and what is not. Too often, discussions of inequality misidentify the actual problems and ignore the clear solutions. In short, America should focus on opportunity and not equality (i.e. income mobility), and fix the structural issues that inhibit mobility by embracing policies known to foster income growth and job creation.

I was going for “by not giving a s**t about it”...

Best way to help “the poor” is to not become that way yourself...

Income inequality? What about grade point average inequality among college and graduate students? That’s an equally important issue of our time. Scholastic achievement inequality contributes to income inequality, I’m pretty sure. “Hey bro, we reduced your 4.0 GPA to 2.9 so that a lazy loser with a 1.8 GPA can feel equally successful! Smile, now you both have a 2.9 GPA.”

The Communist Logic of Obamanation has been decreed to be income equality.

The major obstacle to that worthy Utopian Goal is the 29 hour ceiling regulation imposed on employers by Communist Obamacare.

Thus, a Communist Goal is obstructed by a Communist Program.

However, it all comes down to money.

Thus, all that needs to be done is to raise the hourly minimum wage of the 29 hour a week worker to a level that calculates out to be equal to the total take home pay for the 40 hour a week worker.

Hence, regardless of the hours worked, gender, race or skill level, everybody takes home the exact same number of Federal Reserve Notes.

Equality at last! Equality at Last! Thank Obama the POS, we have Equality at last!

“Every income shall be equal,” no American Dream, no Middle Class, no dreams of getting ahead now as of 1-1-2014 America is a Neo-Communist Nation.

Obamacrats Ryan and Boehner are still working on the complex Algore-rhythm for time and a half overtime workers - - - . There is still more work to do!

BTW, do we still need Labor Unions?

The answer to that has been no for a long time. Because they're a great way to extort members to vote for the left.

I don't care any longer.

I've been dirt poor after having to leave home at 16 and slept in cars and ask friends for food. I got my way out of that situation by operating a repetitious drill press at the same age and got my own studio apartment. I gradually worked other jobs up to lower-middle class until I joined the Navy as E-1 and became poor again. Worked my butt off in the Navy and proceeded up the ranks and then meritoriously promoted to E-6. Made a good decision to get out of Navy after 11 years (rating closing - MOS to others) to take over a small family business. Turned it more profitable and retired.

Short story: I've been poor, lower middle-class, poor again, middle-class, and then relatively upper class and retired at a young age. All due to my own decisions and hard work during good times and recessions.

I just don't give a damn about the so-called poor in this country when the big fat lazy slobs mob stores for the latest sneakers and have cars and TV's, etc. People always tell me some are stuck in their life positions. I say, "BS", move where the jobs are. Think North Dakota that has a 2.1 unemployment rate. Texas is another state that is doing well.

Yes, I've become harsh and I know that our politicians are not helping since 2008 meltdown. However, look at the want ads in just the two states above.
Don't want to wash dishes or cars? That's their problem and they shouldn't expect me to pay for their existence. I've worked 2 jobs a day to feed myself and my family. F**k them. Over half this country is getting some kind of Fegov/State assistance on my dime.

I JUST DON'T CARE!

I sincerely believe Hussein wants to solve this by giving everyone a government job. There would be no qualifying for a job such as having the skills to do the job - the person would just be hired and get a salary if he/she appeared at the job a few times during the week or month. That would solve the problem.

A guy I grew up with next door is now a physician. As kids he was always in his room studying while we were playing football, etc. He spent 4 years in medical school while I was working. After medical school he spent several years working 90 hour work weeks...nights,weekends,holidays...while I was doing Mon-Fri 9AM-5PM.

Today he lives in a huge house in an upper class neighborhood and drives a really nice car.I,OTOH.live in a reasonably sized house in an upper middle class neighborhood and drive a perfectly respectable, but not luxurious, car.

Do I have good reason to hate him?
