NEW YORK (AP) -- Yahoo said Thursday that usernames and passwords of its email customers have been stolen and used to access accounts, but the company isn't saying how many accounts have been affected.

Every time I read something like this, I think of all of those poor people who were forced into signing up for the commie ‘RATS’ ObamaCare. They’re toast.
If you use a common password don’t forget to change it in those other systems as well.

Nice! It’d be swell if AT&T *told* us about this in a timely fashion.
Something was very strange, last week I couldn’t access my AT&T -Yahoo email ...perhaps that when the breach occurred.
I have not had any trouble with my yahoo account but I can not say the same for my Comcast account. A lot of people have not been able to enter their accounts. Mine is used as a secondary account so no important mail. I called them weeks ago and the nice lady helped me change my password but still no login. We thought something was wrong with my computers but my daughter tried to get to my mail at work and she could not. That is when she went to the support page and read some of the comments. Some upset people out there.

I have no idea whether it’s connected but I twice received emails in my inbox from “Yahoo!”, very authentic looking asking me to click a link to confirm my account. The email was addressed to “Dear User” rather than my name which is what Yahoo! usually use so I deleted it without clicking the link. I suspect many users did not and it may be related to this story.
Why do you thing Yahoo e-mail is free? They’ve been monitoring and selling your info for years. You get what you pay for. Suckers.

I reset my password for the 2nd time in the last 6 months. I use Yahoo as my throw away email account.
I thought something was wrong Monday morning so I changed my PW and cleaned everything up that I could.
Isn’t it nice that Mavis and butt head at Yahoo are so honest and transparent in their business to have let us all know about this in such a timely manner right here at tax time?

Yahoo said the usernames and passwords weren’t collected from its own systems, but from a third-party database.
The breach is the second mishap for Yahoo’s mail service in two months. In December, the service suffered a multi-day outage that prompted Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer to issue an apology.
Yahoo said it is resetting passwords on affected accounts and has “implemented additional measures” to block further attacks. The company would not comment beyond the information in its blog post.
I have a Yahoo email. I needed it for Messenger when my wife was traveling. I have never sent an email from nor has my wife sent me an email that account. It was less than 1 day and I was getting spam. I assume Yahoo sold my email minutes after I created it.
The oddest event was getting a string of emails from a woman that where obviously spam/scams. A few days later she sent an email claiming her email was hacked. I almost sent her an email asking how she got my email in the first place but I resisted. I assumed that this was just a ploy to validate an active email account.
Does anyone else get spam text messages?
Here in Asia spam text messages are the plague of our existence, both from legitimate companies and scammers.
