Staten Island Chuck was dropped by Mayor Di Blasio. I guess Chuck is a Republican

P.S. he predicts more cold too.

LOL! .... he BIT Bloomburg!

Well, I’m not happy with his prognostication today .... at least he didn’t totally venture into the quicksand with Super Bowl predictions!

Why is there no equivalent rodent prediction on August second? Oh yeah, there is. A RAT named algore emerges from his 14,000 sq. ft. mansion, or his corporate jet, or his carbon credit symposium and predicts 600 more years of summer if the sun rises in the East.

A predawn overcast rainy gathering of several thousand nerdy cult followers in serious need of a life!

Mostly true but everybody should have this on their bucket list to do at least once.

A few years back, mainly on the strength of the 1993 "Groundhog Day" movie featuring Bill Murray, we decided to take a mini-vacation out there to witness the festivities firsthand.

We stayed at some Courtyard Marriott, or maybe it was a Hampton Inn, in a nearby town the night before. We were up at 4:30am and after spiking our coffee with some Kahlua, we joined the masses - and I do mean masses - in the predawn darkness and stood for hours in the 25 degree cold.

Pretty much spent the whole day there in Punxsutawney. It really is a lot like the movie. A bunch of people having a goofy fun time with all kinds of school bands making noise and people blowing into horns, etc. We almost expected some middle-aged guy in a trench coat to run into us and try to sell us insurance.

It's not something I'd do a second time but I'm glad I did it the one time. And yes, the Kahlua definitely helped. Make sure your wife brings a bottle in the purse and pour it into your coffee.

Sausage links or patties with the breakfast eggs and hash brown potatoes and a bit of sausage gravy to cover the biscuits.

It is not too late to have ground hog today. Remember to put plenty of pork sausage on the pizza for your super bowl party.

What! Phil should be concentrating on his golf game, not looking for his shadow!

Oops! Wrong Phil. Never mind.

OK. Worth experiencing, one time. Or maybe your description will suffice. Getting too old to travel & there’s always youtube.

As for a.m. Kahlua: my day begins with coffee and ends with whiskey on ice, without fail. But the two cannot mix outside their appointed times in the diurnal cycle.

I’m trying to figure out a couple of things.

First off, why is a ground hog consulted about the weather? They live underground for heaven’s sake!

Secondly, what is the difference between “Six more weeks of winter.”, and “Six weeks ‘til spring.” ?

Because REAL scientists have drunk the global warming cool aid.
