On IMDB he claims his favorite role was the one he played in 'Magnolia'. I loved that film, and I thought he did an amazing job in it.

Coincidentally, I just watched Magnolia yesterday, and really enjoyed his role. Judging by the other movies of his I've seen, he was playing against type.

I think I’ll treat myself to a Hoffman marathon to get me through the rest of the winter.

I think he was pretty darn good. It’s refreshing to see someone without the cookie-cutter good looks be able to really act and get a chance. I sort of put Paul Giamatti and Steve Buscemi in the same class. RIP

I have to say I'm the total opposite...I loved Twister and liked Hoffman in it better than any other movie. Different strokes, I guess.

He "lost me" because he took the role in the first place. IMNSHO, anyone who would portray a homo is not too many notches above one. That includes Nathan Lane and Greg Kinnear, both of whom lost me with their portrayals of homos. Even R. Lee Ermey shocked me in Saving Silverman, but I'm willing to excuse him because he's Gunny.

Missing Charlie Wilson's War from the list - he was one of those actors who would sneak up on you - you'd see him in a half dozen films and not pay much attention, then he'd have a break out role like Capote and you'd suddenly recall all the times you saw him before......

I never thought I would. But I raised a couple of kids who are adventures and some time they take me along. I would like to do the Camino De Santiago before I get to old. You can get an idea of it by watching movie The Way. A friend here now who did it and it would be an interesting experience. Find an adventure and do it.

I love old cities,museums,old homes,battlefields,architecture,and the like.

Hope you get to do your Camino De Santiago tour someday. I loved Spain and Portugal.

Fentanyl is very powerful, yes.

After surgery, I was given morphine drip in hospital - I know how people under morphine think they can fly. Found I reacted so poorly to it that I was taken off.

Later on in rehab from surgery pain, I was put on Fentanyl patch. When it came off during a shower I neglected to put another one back on since I had been feeling no pain (hello, me, it was the Fentanyl that made me comfortable after the surgery).

After missing that one patch, I ended up in emergency claiming that the whole world smelled terrible. I asked, loudly and hysterically, everyone from EMS to everyone in ER, patients and nurses and doctors didn't they smelled it, too. Of course no one smelled the smell but I was hysterical that no one seemed to smell the horrible "smell".

Fentanyl - avoid if possible but if you have to use it, don't stop it abruptly and stay with physician the whole time you are on it.

It was horrible and I had PTDS type of dreams. Awful, awful, awful time in my life. Doctor said the reaction was like a smell "hallucination".

I still cringe when I think of it and it has been at least 4 - 5 years.

Sometimes the terrible dreams still come back.
