People make their own choices.

Fair enough. I choose to die with my boots on.

When I leave the house this morning, I will be going to court for a hearing in a perjury case that I've been covering it for my newsblog. The underlying case resulted in the conviction and imprisonment of a mayor for public corruption. My newsblog covered the issue for 3 1/2 years.

Last night I covered the Ruston, LA city council meeting. Tonight is the Lincoln Parish (county) school board. I got tired of the local "real" newspaper not doing its job, so I decided to do it myself.

I'm not impressed with people who say "nothing can be done."

I didn’t say nothing can be done. It’s just that I’m becoming more and more convinced that Frank Herbert was right when he wrote:

“Power attracts the corruptible. Absolute power attracts the absolutely corruptible. This is the danger of entrenched bureaucracy to its subject population. Even the spoils systems are preferable because levels of tolerance are lower and the corrupt can be thrown out periodically. Entrenched bureaucracy seldom can be touched short of violence. Beware when Civil Service and Military join hands.”

Tonight is the Lincoln Parish (county) school board.

I hope you enjoy great success in shining the light on corruption, and live a long life, too. Thanks for your work.
