The family said the officer wanted to interview a neighbor and was walking across the front yards of homes on the street when the shooting happened.

The officer was basically trespassing across front yards. Just because you have a uniform, gun, and badge does not give you the 'right' to come onto any owners property without permission. Wow. What is it with these da*% cops and dogs?

The dog did what he instinctual knew to do. Run up, bark at you, and look menacing(maybe). The officer was not in an active pursuit, running, etc. so there was no reason ...other than the officer's own stupidity at work here.

I had a job where I had to make home visits and many times at night under stressful situations. Not once was I ever afraid of being attacked by their dogs. The people, yes, but never the dogs.
