2014 Winter Olympics Women’s Ice Hockey Schedule

It will be interesting to see how the Russkies merge a combo KHL-NHL team, and whether they play NHL or KHL style.

GO USA!
Those playoffs are gonna be rugged - a game every day.
I hope I have enough DVR space. I’ll be watching Russia, Finland and USA. I hope Canada picks a good right wing for Crosby (a finisher not a playmaker) I’d love for his line to score a hat trick every game and have Canada finish out of the metal round.
Tavares is going to be on the team, though not sure what line. Those two guys on a PP will be a killer combo.
I hope Canada wins, due to the US committee’s epic stupidity in not choosing Okposo.
I agree about Okposo. Him being left off a team that’s likely to have trouble scoring might be another stupid decision of Bylsma and Shero’s. I have mixed feelings about team USA. On the one hand, There are emotional tugs, one the other if they do well, the Pens will never get rid of that coach and GM.
Tavares and Crosby on the power play should be interesting. I know they train together sometimes. If Canada is smart they’ll pick James Neal to replace Stamkos. It’s a team in danger of having so many playmakers they’ll get in each others way.

My dad and sister, who follow hockey as a whole much more than I do, said Bylsma had no vote in the decision process on who would get chosen for the team.
Shero, Bylsma and Granato (assistant to Byslma) were all there. For those voting, the head coaches preferences would be a huge consideration.
Interesting...
Kyle Okposo barely got mentioned. Pathetic
I hope the US team tanks. What a lame excuse to keep him off the team.
Agreed. With the larger ice it might be KHL but with the stricter calls regarding fighting and holding, NHL style might work too.
Bottom line is, just like in the NHL playoffs, you go as far as your goaltending will take you.
Looking at Team USA's goaltending corps, I'd say we will be lucky to medal at all.
Crosby and Malkin (and 3 others) schooled Miller just last night.
That's why it's important to have two quality goalies for the Olympics. Not sure how the USA is going to do with Quick having been injured. I don't have much confidence in Howard or Miller. Not with them facing the firepower deployed by some other teams.
Canada's goaltending stacks up better if Luongo doesn't have his playoff-style funk. The Slovaks are thin after Halak; Budaj is sometimes serviceable as an NHL backup, sometimes not. Sweden will go as far as Lundqvist can carry them, with Gustavsson spelling him. The Russians are in very good shape with both Varlamov and Bobrovsky hot right now.
Nobody has better goaltending than the Finns with Lehtonen, Niemi and Rask. They are going to play a lot of 1-0 or 2-1 games.
If I were to rank the goalies by team, it would be Finland, Russia, Canada, and the United States in 4th. Of course, with the offense Canada can put on the ice, I might be able to play goal for Team Canada. They're stacked.
Miller is playing behind a really bad team. Team USA defense is fairly good and will be better if they leave Orpik in the press box.
Also Canada picked Marty St. Louis to replace Stamkos. Neal would have been a better choice. His presence on the ice was responsible for both Malkin and Crosbys breakaway goals as well as sniping one himself. I wish we could clone him.
