OMG ... did you watch this morning’s game USA vs Russia?!!
And with Putin in attendance!
I love the international shoot out rules!
Oshie Rules!!!
That game had everything ... from penalties to recalled goals, from a breakaway to sudden death OT. From 3 shootouts to sudden death shootout. It brought back so many memories from 1980 and Lake Placid. Did you watch that game?
DirectTV has most of the games on one channel or another. The women play early - some times starting live at 3AM. I've set my TV to switch it on when I'm asleep and the sound of it wakes me up!
I've been trying to catch every game that a Penguins player is in - Canada, Russia and Finland. I haven't been disappointed in any of them so far.
Watching Malkin lose to Orpik, Martin and Coaches Bylsma and Granato this morning was especially nice.
While it's true that we cannot compare today's game, as freeper hoagy62 pointed out, with the 1980 game between amateur american hockey players and the "amateur" USSR team, it's evident that the rivalry from that momentous game lives on, even today, with professional players on both teams. Here's hoping they meet again, in Sochi. What a game!

“Latvia vs. Canada - 12:00 noon - MSNBS”
Canada’s team is always such a soap opera.
Will Canada’s forwards find love and the net?
Will Babcock continue to ignore what Crosby truly needs from his wings (Benn and Bergeron...really?) in favor of consulting astrology carts and stat lines?
Does Pierre McGuire’s faux Canadian accent slip away to show he’s really just another American?
“Czech Republic vs. U.S.A. - 12:00 noon - USA Network”
The old folks hockey home vs TJ Oshie
Speaking of American’s , Bylsma is turning out to be a good short tournament coach just like some had said, drat! Too bad coach of team USA isn’t a paid position.
I believe it's a soldier in dress blues saluting the 'Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier'.
The U.S. Olympic goaltending race is starting to get interesting with Jonathan Quick playing some of his best hockey in the month of January. Who knows how much he or Ryan Miller will play at this point, but we know that Team USAs top two goaltenders are going to be looking pretty sharp.
Ryan Miller already debuted his mask for Sochi, which is an awesomely updated version of his 2010 mask. Now we have a look at Quicks completed mask.

Nice!
...and IOC can stick it with regards to their thin skin.
Noli me tangere (motto of The Old Guard)
This will probably be the nail in the coffin for the future of NHL players competing in the Winter Olympics.
But the way he said it leads me to believe that they will not.
And why don't they call them "defensewomen?"
