“better yet- boxes”

You just jogged my memory. As a child I remember going to Central Market in Olneyville, RI. The stock people would put the boxes from the produce they had just put on the shelve under the shelves. You would just select a box from under the shelf and go to the register where they would pack your groceries in a nice box for you to take home. I wonder what Kroger would say if I brought in an amazon box for them to put my groceries into.

heylady- It would save them having to break down the boxes & deal with them, too. Seems like common sense/ win-win to me. Boxed groceries were a little before my time, but tv shows like Dobie Gillis & (I think) Leave It To Beaver used to depict people getting their groceries in boxes. Costco does it now (I know, lib outfit, but we get the dogs’ meds there since they’re so much cheaper.)
We should do that (take our own box). Maybe it would start a movement.

wally-bert, I hate stuff piling up, too. I am really sick of that stupid recycle bin & the “can bag” (DH insists on selling our soda cans & then we have to have a discussion ;-) when they start taking up too much room in the garage. (I gots a 4 bag limit). They’re in my way. I don’t like the way the city uses it to strong-arm people, either. (That’s a whole other rant).

I’ve got enough laundry to do w/out adding grocery totes that have to be washed in hot water.
