Only On 9: Family Outraged Over Suspension Of Westlake High Senior Class President

WESTLAKE (CBSLA.com) — The family of a high school senior suspended from Westlake High School is angry and talking Only to KCAL9 about their ordeal.

Dominic Conti, 17, was suspended from school for five days following an incident at a football game last October 11. He reportedly confronted — and got into an altercation — with a football player he accused of sexually harassing his 15-year-old sister, a freshman at the school.

Conti, until his suspension, was also the school’s senior class president. That position was taken away after his suspension.

KCAL9′s Rachel Kim spoke to Conti, his sister and their father.

Friends and Conti supporters accuse Westlake High Principal Ron Lipari of coming down hard on Conti and protecting the school’s football program.

The Contis insist they went to school administration to complain about the football player but say nothing was done.

“Im a victim of sexual harassment,” said Conti’s sister, a Westlake freshman who didn’t want her name used or her likeness shown. “And you know what, [the sexual harassment] it is not okay.”

She said a football player, who had been saying vulgar things to her, did it again on the night of Oct. 11 — for the third time.

“He begins asking me to do things to his private parts — many things to his private parts – and I begin to tell him no and I would never, ever do that,” said Dominic’s sister.

Her father and brother found a security guard and went to confront the football player.

Larry told Kim he asked the player, “Are you the one harassing my little girl?”

Dominic said, “That’s when [the player] lunged at me and my dad and he threw a punch. In self defense, I pushed down his arm.”

Dominic, a 4.4 GPA student, insists he never threw a punch at the football player and explained to the principal that he only acted in self-defense.

“I looked him in the eye and I said ‘Mr. Lipari, I do not regret protecting my sister,’” Dominic said.

The family believes the principal and the district are protecting the school’s football program above females at the school.

Last August the school was allegedly involved in a hazing incident when the team traveled to Hawaii and Larry Conti believes the football players apparently believe they are above reproach.

“I felt a little upset with the school [regarding Hawaii.] The boy was just a process, he is part of the culture of that school,” said Larry.

Despite the fact Dominic is back in school, he believes the suspension will hurt him with college recruiters despite his high GPA and school activities.

The Conti’s are suing the principal for defamation and for disclosing personal information about Dominic, Kim reports.

She also said she emailed and called the superintendent’s office twice for a comment and “haven’t heard back from them.”

I don’t know what really happened here but it’s not hard to imagine a school with a culture where football players think they can get away with anything and sometimes do.

Considering how many private businessmen are conservative, I would think it’s more than overdue that they bet together and stare a guaranteed jobs program for VICTIMS of liberal PC bullsXit.

I'll give you decent odds that the football player involved was only enforcing his racial superiority against an uppity white boy nerd who didn't know his proper place.

The libs think everyone needs “counseling.” The kid sister needs “counseling,” the player who abused her needs “counseling,” the older brother needs “counseling,” all the parents need “counseling.”

Some of the best counseling is a good ass-kicking. It has a proven track record.

Sexual perversity trumps all in the brave, new world (order). We have judges that tell us minors can consent to sex with adults. We have politicians who run on a platform of killing inconvenient babies resulting from 'casual' sex. We have parades celebrating the immorality of sticking a penis in another man's anus. We have a Congress and a President forcing a religion to fund a practice that strikes at the heart of their Holy doctrine and finally, we have a coalition of Nations dictating to the Vatican that it *must* recognize the rights of the perverted and reinterpret God's word.

There are many who worry that God's wrath will be aimed at these United States but I say, broaden your horizon. But as for me and my house.....

Time to get a lawyer and sue the school district’s ass off...and the football player for sexual harassment. Just for laughs...see how they like the publicity.

a serious incident involving members of a local football team some years ago,,,was as far as I know never resolved....

the superstar celebrity concept seems to overule common sense and all too often common decency.

I agree, no witnesses. Low side kick to the knee, outside in. Football career over, new career in the fast food industry following social graduation.

not only high schools. The special of treatment of star athletes continues thru college, and if they are really good, to the pro’s.

Unless they have received a strong moral grounding at home, there’s serious trouble with entitlement. Unfortunately, many athletes get NO moral grounding at home.

The schools are more often than not just plain worthless. Too many are more interested in the teams’ success than character development. Sad state of affairs

Sounds like the brother and father stood up to the bully like real men. The principle is making himself look like a twerp and was useless in helping prevent the incident. The good guys are being punished here while the twisted malcontent is encouraged to feel justified in his demented actions. Then the same deviants reach adulthood and try this crap out in the real world. They feel entitled to follow their selfish lusts and illegal activities. The principle is a direct contributor to helping turn our country into the cultural cesspool it has become.
