Where’s the “ dumber than a box of rocks” choice?
Trying to win over the hispanic votes by being portrayed as ‘good guys’. Wrong approach—try leading and teaching the way with conservative principles as the differentiators from irresponsible democrat policies.
At one time FR was full of pro illegal immigration folks. I am very thankful that whoever is responsible, straightened it out. I suppose JR deserves the credit.

They hate being hammered on race. They think if they embrace illegals they’ll be inoculated against this kind of attack. And they are afraid that, opposing illegals, they’ll burn bridges between GOP and Hispanic conservatives.
It doesn’t work. Dems will always hammer them because they are Dems.
And the way you win over conservative Hispanics is the same way you win over any conservative; you preach and practice conservative principles. Explain, promote, and defend conservative principles. That’s how you do it. You won’t win over all Hispanic voters, but you’ll win over the ones who agree with you, which are the ones you want.
The GOP establishment is wrong on all counts, but that is the calculus.

About the only thing the GOP has succeeded at is to lower taxes for corporations and wealthy individuals. That is the whole ball of wax for these people. And my bet is that they would be willing to sell the whole future of the GOP just to get more and the Dem's would be willing to give them that to get control. now, geniuses if the Democrats finally get control how good are your tax cuts and loopholes? Also I don't mean to underestimate cheap labor as well.

I tend to agree with you, their proposals make no logical sense unless they are acting under coercion, that also explains why they will not investigate any of the weekly scandals coming out of the current administration. The race card is not powerful enough to trump an entire branch of our government by itself.

That's the real truth. The weasels know what a disastrous can of worms this is, but they were forced to go through the motions by their real masters - the deep pocket corporate interests.

For sure, that's the way it will be spun in the press. So backing amnesty will buy them nothing in the end.
Regardless if their motives were pure as the driven snow, they will not benefit politically.
I think their motives are political, they want to go after the Hispanic vote, and they think this is the way to do it. But it isn't going to work. The press will present their motives as even more cynical than they really are.
The Repukes are well aware that there's little they can do to get Hispanics to vote for them. It's their deep pocket masters who want cheap labor, who are pushing them to consider putting up an amnesty bill.
Boehner and his gang of pukes knew this was a lead balloon to begin with, but couldn't refuse to do the bidding of those who own them.
