Detroit 1987 was where the original Robo Cop took place. He was sent there to clean it up. Now it is beyond cleanup
Motorcycles ride up and down stairways in avtion movies all the time...: )
Every time I think of the original Robocop, I chuckle at the Oldsmobile Cutlas used in the film and labled a “6000 SUX”
There was a cracked.com article on Robocop a few years back, saying how prescient the movie was. A lot of cities are bigger, more advanced, bigger skyscrapers - and Detroit looks like a post-apocalyptic movie set in real life.
Maybe “Robots vs. Zombies” would be a good alternative movie to Robocop.
They arguably have a similar premise. A semi-intelligent rebuilt creature against a deadly horde.
Jose Padilha?
John Doe #2 is out of jail?
I'm not surprised about Detroit. The leadership managed to alienate (Gee, somehow) the TAX PAYERS and send them FLEEING into the suburbs.
It's not rocket science.
Let me guess....this one will be about a good corporation with lots of well-meaning, old white corporate officers who go into the ghetto to try to make life better for hordes of undeserving, minority parasites who love sponging off the government and demand tax-payers fund their indolent lifestyles in perpetuity? Robocop helps the white corporation people and saves them from the predations of the ghetto residents. Am I wrong?
The director of the original Robocop, Paul Verhoeven, went out of his way to take cheap shots at Reagan, but oveall the movie was exceptionally entertaining. The worthless scum got drilled with no pitying excuses. And Kurtwood Smith’s baddie character Clarence Boddicker is absolutely one of the greatest movie villains of all time.

It is in HD and I think you will find it a lot more entertaining than the "official" remake and the good news is it is FREE so enjoy!
“And Kurtwood Smiths baddie character Clarence Boddicker is absolutely one of the greatest movie villains of all time.”
I thought the exact thing at the time Robocop came out and still do. I still find it hard to suspend disbelief when Smith plays rolls like the dad in “That 70’s Show”.
“but it was also a remake in a way of Frankenstein.”
Indeed. One of the layers I was referring to. Doubt there will be any “layers” at all in the new one.
